Exclusively BFing and still get AF?

I got AF today but I exclusively feed my baby who is almost 11 weeks old. He's still having 2-3 night feeds and he doesn't even have a dummy or any top up feeds.

I didn't think I could get AF while this was happening.

If I got AF, does that mean I ovulated?

I have PCOS and I only ovulated once in a year before getting pregnant, and that was when Leo was conceived and I was on metformin for that to happen.

So what's going on now? I'm not on metformin and all of a sudden I get a sudden onset of heavy bleeding with no warning.

    Any help?

Hi Tara, After i had Macauley, i thought AF would stay away a bit longer because i was exclusively breastfeeding too, but the day he turned 10 weeks AF came back with a vengence
The same happened after Ryan and he was breastfed too.

I wish i was one of those people who don't get AF back until baby has weaned, but unfortunately it's not the case.

Huge hugs hun, i know how you feel

Hello, yes AF returned after only 4 mths for me, I knew other exclusively BFing women at the time who's AF returned before me as well. Not sure what effect having PCOs might have on it as I don't know enough about it. I would however take it as a sign to be careful with contraceptives if you don't want to fall pg, and to go for it if you do want to fall pg!!

Everyone is different i suppose. Its not really a written rule that you shouldnt get AF b4 6 months...i guess more woman generally do....but of course there are those that dont, like yourself.
