first period after birth baby is 13 months tmi

i have been breastfeeding and still am but on wednesday i had the worst pain ever above my belly button and all round my back it was so bad i ended up in a&e as didnt know what it was.
they done blood tests and a xray of stomache but nothing showed up, i got home and a couple of hours later i started bleeding i am assuming its my period. the reason im writing is im #feeling low and just wanted reassurance stupid i know. i suffer pnd as when maisy was born i came home after 3 days and on the 3rd night i passed a huge clot, went back to a/&e but they sent me home next day i passed some placenta it was quite a large piece and had to be removed as so long, sorry tmi.
anyway was on drip for 2 days after, this caused my pnd and now i am bleeding im paronoid im going to hemmorige or something even though i kinda kniow its just my periods returning. i have had soem clots not bibber than little finger nail but more like liver than a blood clot. i never had such pain from periods b4 . i am fed up ofbeing scared but the flash backs keep coming and i cant stop checking how heavy im bleding ect. its not even that heavy a pad lasts 3 hors or more. sorr for being so needy lol

I'm still fully b/fing and I got my first period when Cody was 11 mths old, it was also slightly like you decribed, I believe that you have nothing to worry about, it's just your body getting back into a normal routine, if you can call it that.

Have you considered talking to someone about your birth experience, so that you can get all your fears and emotions out instead of it replaying in your head. I hope that your are ok and I'm sending you big hugs.

    hugs xoxo

I just got mine back last month, the first one is always horrible for me, very painful (I normally don't get too much pain) and lots of clots. j

    Hi red puppy,

this is two months after your post, so I hope things have all settled down. I think a possible explanation for period cramps while BF'ing is that the hormone that triggers the milk let down (prolactin) is a close cousin of oxytocin, the stuff which causes contractions of the uterus.

The changes in oestrogen/progesterone as you come into periods might prime the uterine muscle to cramp. Also, its a long time between cervical openings, so maybe the uterus gets first night nerves?!

    hope you're now cruising, Ang

I got mine back when my DS was 11 months old (just dropped back to 2 BF's a day) and I had mega pain for a couple of weeks before it finally showed... It was like period pain but heaps worse than usual. Same thing happened again this month (2nd period) so perhaps I have to put up with it till my body gets back to normal. Maybe yours is similar...
