    HELLP Sindrome

I have been thinking lately (I know scarry) but I had HELLP with my first pg, what are the chances of my second one also ending up in a prem-birth as a result of HELPP? And does it mean that the second one I would need to go for more check-ups? I am scared silly that it will happen again. It was not my favorite moment in time, exept for Lelani!
    Any wise words out there?
By the way, when is the best time to go second time around?! When bub is one and a half?

    Hi Nadine,

I had pre-eclampsia with my 1st and 2nd pregnany. When i was pregnant with my 3rd i was telling the Dr's all about my 1st pregnancy and what happened and how i was and they said it sounded like i had HELLP syndrome. So if that is the case that is what i really had then i didn't get it with my second only got pre-eclampsia.

I was very sick with my 1st and she was born at 35wks 4days my 2nd was born 36wks 6 days and my 3rd was born 37wks 2days.

When you fall pg again they should monitor you all the time and make sure things don't get as bad.

I had appt's 4 times a week with my last pregnancy as i was showing signs of pre-eclampsia at 26wks.

    Hellp

I had my first baby in 1994. I had a very severe case of the HELLP syndrome. So bad that my baby was born at 32 weekd with a zero APGAR and had to be in NICU and I was unconcious for 10 days and on the verge of a blood transfusion. At the time I had a very young and inexperienced Doctor. I had several miscarrages in the years to follow.

In 2003 I finally had my second child. But the Doctor was much more expeienced and had studied the HELLP syndrome. He wanted me to take baby asprin and calcium but I didn't listen because the bottles said "do not take if pregnant". He delivered me as soon as he saw the HELLP syndrome coming on at 34 weeks.

For my third child I did was I was told and took baby asprin and calcium. I made it to full term and had no symptoms of the HELLP syndrome. Make sure you have a doctor who knows about HELLP and is well studied on it and be prepared for many doctor visits.
