just a silly quick question.
I had a couple of small tears after giving birth, which required some stitches.
I thought the Ob said they would take a week to disolve but I can still feel them. He may have been talking about something else, and I got confused which is likely, lol.
They're starting to feel scratchy and I want them to go away soon!
In other peoples experiences, how long did yours take to disolve?
Hello, I had a similar experience, when I asked my Dr she said, they will dissolve by themselves and I ended up pulling them out myself after about 7 weeks because the thread was so hard and scratchy it was really starting to hurt (can you tell I am unhappy with the post natal care I rec'd). I didn't know at the time they are supposed to dissolve in 1-2 weeks. If this were to happen to me again, I would give it two weeks then go in an demand some management, as I ended up with a pretty nasty scar that still hurt 18 months later.
So I would agree with Tanby - go and get them checked (and don't let them fob you off like they did to me)!
mine took 7 months, yes thats right 7 MONTHS!!! apparently they are fine to be in there for as long as it takes, as long as they are causing no problems infection wise. i found that DTD got a lot better after they disappeared!
Hi,
I had so many stitches when i had my son they pretty much stopped counting... Most of them disolved after 4 weeks, there were still a few there after quite a few months. i never really took any notice as it wasn't uncomfortable or anything.
If you have any troubles go to the Dr.
Mine took at least a few weeks...perhaps even closer to 6 weeks... It took a long time anyway...but they were gone by my '6 week checkup' that I had around 9 weeks after bub was born. I still have a horrible lump though where the stitches were...I guess that's just scare tissue though...
I was told my stitches would take 3 - 4 months to dissolve, I think they took just under 3 months to go in the end, I`m not sure why so long but that`s what I was told.
