    Episiotomy scar still painful (TMI)

Hi, I was just wondering how long the pain from 3rd degree tear and 3rd degree episiotomy usually lasts? I had my first bub 5 weeks ago and it's still tender/painful down there. The thought of having sex again is quite scary to be honest. Has anyone else had this problem? I don't know if I did the right thing but I got a mirror and had a look.....does it ever recover?

Hmm i had an episiotomy with DS and it took quite some time to heal. I also had a skin tag that didnt help, but it took me a good several months and still then DTD was still sometimes quite tender. I guess when you think about it, it is a large cut that needs to heal. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to heal before attempting DTD. Massaging the area in a warm bath or even otherwise, can help toughen the area up again.

Mine is still painful now - DH is a bit disappointed that I sometimes have to tell him things are a bit painful. I can still feel the scar too, it hasn't healed nicely at all.

But then, he was the one who agreed to me being cut up without anyone informing me what was going on, why should I pretend I'm OK due to his mistake?

Sorry it`s still painfull for you, I had a 4th degree tear which then got infected, it took 5 months to heal and a long time after that for it to feel okay when DTD, even now 2 years later if things aren`t well lubricated down there it`s still painfull, the main thing to remember is to use lots of lube when attempting to DTD
