    HRT anyone?

I am an old lady by BB standards........39.....and my periods have been a bit all over the place over the plast 6 months.

SO, I had some bloods done and had the results yesterday........early onset of meopause confirmed. (Looks like all three of my babies were "last chance" babies!

Not happy Jan to say the least.

I have a gynae appt next month, but in between times I'm looking at all the options.......

So, if anyone out there has a clue as to the pros and cons of the different types of Hormone Replacement Therapy, I am all ears.........

From what I hear, it works for some people, and not for others. My mum has been going through menopause since she was mid 30's. She initially tried HRT, but it didn't agree with her. It seemed to make her mood swings worse. She prefers natural remedies, and regularly goes to naturopaths. She takes Dong Quai, which agrees with her.

I'd see an acupuncturist (Traditional Chinese Medicine therapist) Lucy... see what they say. It scares me to think of taking HRT.

Don't go there Lucy! Avoid HRT at all costs, if possible.

My mum has been struggling (on and off) through menopause for almost five years now, but she thinks it's worth it not to have to take HRT. She does use natural therapies to help her with her hot flushes (her biggest problem). My grandmother has been on HRT for many years, and two years ago was diagnosed with breast cancer which the Drs are pretty sure was caused by the HRT.

Also, it's widely accepted that HRT only suppresses menopausal symptoms......so in other words, once you're on it, you're on it for life. If you try to come off it, or even reduce your dose, you'll find the symptoms resurfacing. Which is why my mum won't take it, as she figures she'll probably have to go through the symptoms at some point.

Obviously some people really NEED HRT for various reasons, but if you can avoid it, it seems to be the best way!
