    Mini Pill...

This is probably a REALLY dumb question but im gonna ask it anyway.....
Izzy is 8 weeks old and at our 6 week check up I asked the Dr for a script for the mini pill for contraception (obviously - duh!)
Im breastfeeding and havent had AF - what I want to know is, will AF return if I go on the mini pill??

    TIA

I got AF after about 8 weeks, but then not again for a couple of months. Took about 6 months for it to become regular again. But I don't know if this was because of the mini pill or just my body.

Don't take me word for word on this... But as far as i understand it

After having a baby + Breastfeeding it can take up to 6months for AF to return, even then it may be irregular... and one of the disadvantages of the mini pill is irregular periods...

So you wouldn't know if it's ur body or mini pill that caused Af to rear her ugle head, hehe... HTH

I think you can still get AF on the mini pill.

FWIW though, I didn't get AF at all since having Em! I fell pg when she was 13 months old (still bf) and had not had AF once. So it's now been 2 1/2 years since I have had AF!!!

AF came back for me, despite fully BFing every 3 hours or less, when DD was 6 weeks old.

I went on the mini-Pill when she was 4 months. I started on the first day of AF and i got no AF for 45 days (was panicking and doing HPT's almost daily by then...) and then AF every 16 days for 3 "cycles" and then back to 30 or so but with spotting...not so great! I am funny with hormonal contraceptives though, so if you're fine with them they might not have that effect at all.

I did find that it slowed down my let-down, which added to my problems with BFing. This might not happen to you, but it's something to watch out for, so you can be prepared etc.

Depends....everyone is diff. Its common for AF to arrive after the 6 mth mark....when bubs has moved onto solids also. But in saying that some women get it straight away too (whilst b/f). I havent had AF in 2 years....i was on the mini pill and had not had AF....yet fell pregnant with #3 when DD#2 was 10 months old....

I can confidently say i am almost positive i did not ovulate b4 6 months....infact i would even go as far to say up to 8 months i really dont think i was ovulating. It wasnt until i cut back on my feeds, went back to work around the 9 month mark that i think my body got itself back into the swing of things....
Good luck....what will be will be....
