I'm leaking urine... and i havn't a clue on how to remedy this problem! ive been doing y pelvic floor excerises they just are not working! what am i doing wrong... please help!
Is it all the time or just when you jump around or sneeze or something? I still get that sometimes doing certain things at the gym and I do my excercises religiously. I think you have to do them for a while before they start working but maybe you should go back and see your Dr anyway?
Keep doing the pelvic floor exercises. They will take time to strenghen. It would also be a good idea to see a physio, they can check you are doing them right and recommended some other exercises. In a very small number of cases there is a bigger problem which surgery mostly helps with, but most of the time it's just a matter of time and exercises. There are physios that specialise in these things (that's how common it is!). Good luck, I know it's an annoying problem.
Cass,
Keep up with the exercises but it is also hormonal too!
While you are breastfeeding your estrogen levels are still lower and this has an effect. Apparently a similar thing happens after menopause and this is another reason why older women can be a bit leaky!
My GP REFUSED to refer me to the physio when I was having problems because she said I needed to give the hormones time to recover and when they did that it would be better. YEP - she was right!
So hold on (sorry - bad pun!), have patience, keep doing the exercises but remember that the hormones are having an effect and not everything can be back to normal just yet!

Hi Rachael,
My problem was still happening months later - about 5-6 months postpartum I think when I consulted the GP about it!
If you are not breastfeeding I believe the hormones return to normal quicker. Breastfeeding keeps them lower for longer.
Of course, having a baby contributes - heaps physically!
I had a caesar so my problem was not vaginal birth related - it WAS hormonal! Something to do with the way hormones affect muscle tone! Things are much more normal now!
