Post Partum Bleeding - TMI may follow

how long was your bleeding a decent bright red bleed??? not a change pad every few hours type but a constant bright red and pink and good amount when you wipe after toilet visits?? I can't remember from DS#1 but I'm still getting a fair bit one week post birth and am starting to worry cause the one book I have says less than a week and the midwife seemed concerned when she asked today (but in responding to her I forgot to mention the wiping element) Sorry for TMI but really don't want yet another medical issue so am trying to find out whats expected

Well for me it was full-on for a week, then went to more 'heavy period' type bleeding for three weeks (sort of as you describe above) before becoming lighter and disappearing at 6 weeks nearly to the day. I didn't think my bleeding was excessive (annoying, maybe!)

With Olivia it was around 10 days of bright red, with Charlie it was only a few days.

If you are at all concerned, and I know it is a pain, get to your Dr.

That said, it seems to vary SO much from woman to woman and from pregnancy to pregnancy.......

Gosh.. I can't remember! And it wasn't that long ago! All I know is it finally stopped at 6 weeks. I think I was probably using maternity pads for about 10 days? but it was only really quite heavy in hospital. I then moved onto normal pads for the rest. For the last few weeks tho it was just annoyingly there.. enough to need a pad or a liner. It shouldn't be too heavy for too long tho I don't think.
