'Lose' - how long + something else..

    Hey!!

How long should the 'lose' go for??

DD was born 4 weeks ago and my discharge is different and I guess I would still call it my 'lose'. Its not so much red any more, I guess I would call it more like old blood and there is not much of it (I am only wearing a liner now).

I know that everyone is different, but how long does it go on for??

Also.... I've noticed that when going to the toilet it kinda hurts! Well it only hurts when I 'cut off' my urine, if that makes sense. It was really really painful about a week or so after birth and now its less, but still there.. Has anyone had something like this or am I just a weirdo?

Mine stopped after 10 days.....then came back a week or so later for a bit... then cos of PG i never seen blood again.

Think can go for up to 6 weeks, but if ur worried id speak to ur GP about it. Maybe ask bout the pain too...not sure what it could be... i never had any pain or anything...

Perhaps if u had stitches....when u stop pee it pulls the skin a bit tighter??? Not sure hun... hope it works out for u tho.

I had bleeding for at least 4 weeks - can't remember exactly when it stopped, but like you it eased quite a bit first. What you are describing sounds very normal to me. WRT the pain, did you have stitches? I can't really remember for sure, but I think I might have had something similar after Jack's birth. I don't think it sounds abnormal. I hope it all settles for you soon.

Well hopefully my bleeding slowly fizzles out!! I did get a bit more of a bleed while I exercised the other day.. I guess that would be normal cause of more movement.

And yes, I did have stitches. I didnt think of that.. I thought maybe it could be my pelvic floor muscles but when I work on them I dont have any pain, so I am pretty sure its in the urethea (sp) or whatever it is called (LOL I was hopeless at school!). I am taking DD to see my dr this week so I might ask him about it or I might wait 2 more weeks until my check up..

I had bleeding for about 4 or 5 weeks. It had definately stopped by 6 weeks though.
I cant remember about the loo thing. I do remember it ws uncomfortable to do a wee - i also had stitches - and it was a bit painful while they were still healing, but I dont remember how long that all lasted for. I had issues with my pelvic floor a few times and wee leakage as it was too painful to hold on and stop the flow of wee, lol.

I had it about 6 weeks. The last couple of weeks was scant but still there.
And it still hurt down there until about 7- 8 weeks after peeing etc. Especially after pooing too! lol
    TMI sorry but HTH

I bled for about 2 weeks after my first, and 4 weeks after my second. As you said though the last week of each was old blood.

With the hurt when you pee thing, if you had a catheter during labour you might have stirred up your urethra a bit - this happened to me.

Hey Veronica, the blood loss sounds normal to me too - I was wearing liners for weeks and weeks. Towards the end the blood stopped, but there was yucky discharge for a while after that.
In regard to the pain when you pee, I'd talk to your doc. It may be nothing. But its so easy to ask, and if its something that needs looking at you'll be better off looking at it, KWIM?
I remember I thought I had thrush at one point, cause while the stitches were healing they were a little bit stingy and itchy... But the doc checked them out and said all was fine - just healing. Maybe when you stop the wee-flow, some gets on the stitches/scar or something? I found using a little spray bottle of water when I went to the loo helped them not to sting - diluted the wee Also, drinking lots of water made it more comfy too. HTH and hope you're feeling better soon.
