    severe cystic acne

I have just come home from my 6 week OB appt. I have had really bad acne since giving birth. I had bad acne about 5 years ago and had to go on roaccutane to get rid of it. its a pretty strong drug with a lot of side effects. i knew at the time that i wasnt allowed to fall pg beacuse it causes birth defects (which was fine as i was singe). I had wondered if you are allowed to go on it while bf, and i found out today that you cant. so if i was to take it i would have to wait till i finish bf (and he suggested weaning early but i dont want to), then at least 6 months of the treatment, then another 6 months before it is all out of my system. and i really didnt want to have to wait that long before TTC again (plus the terrible thought of if i was to fall pg while on it).

so im just wondering if anyone knows of any other safer medications to help clear up cysitc acne (not just lotions - its way beyond that)

Thanks Pearl, I just replied in the other thread. Fingers crossed that we can both get on top of it before too long!

My husband has cystic acne and refuses to take roacutane. You are very brave. My only suggestion is to go to a naturopath, chinese herbalist or kinesologist and ask for their opinion. I hope it goes quickly and soon.
