I'm having the same issue. Except that I couldn't even get it in more than a few millimeters before it started stinging and getting it out was agony, I'm still sore 20 mins later!
I've tried them a few times in the last 2.5 years since DS was born and they've always been uncomfortable but never stung like this.
Was meant to go swimming tommorrow as part of a 6 week challenge and now can't go because I can't get the stupid tampon in. :'(

You could try a menstural cup! They take a a few cycles to get used to using but now after 3 I've got it worked out. I'll never wear tampons again and it will be paid for in 6 cycles I figured out
Yes! I ADORE my moon cup! I hate the dry feeling a tampon gives you, and I've never had that issue with a moon cup. I only use pad's overnight now, and only on very heavy days. If you try it, I recommend snipping the end pretty short.

HZ - do you know why you've go the problem? I've only had my period once since birth so haven't had to face the issue again. The doctor told me that I might be drier because of BF and that with each period it might get easier but to really know wait until I"m not BF.

no idea. I used tampons constantly before falling pregnant now can't at all.
I suspect you're right about being dryer. And I am still breastfeeding so maybe that is the cause. It's so frustrating.
Been meaning to get a moon cup but never have the money.

I can't use lube to put the tampon in, can I? lol

... I have no idea. I have been having some really nasty period pain since DS birth. In my back and down my thighs as well as abdominal.
The abdo pain isn't new, legs and back is. I've always had some degree of pain but it's been getting steadily worse since his birth. My period have become heavy and short - was 7 days now it only lasts 3.

Hope that makes sense, I' ve got a headache and can't think straight.

eta- I also get random really sharp pains in my bum, like someones jamming a pointy metal pole up it and twisting it and all I can do is try to remember to breathe and wait it out.

Lisa- that's what I was thinking too re. absorption. It's at 6am tomorrow so don't really have time to test it. But I'll give it a google and see what comes up.

Not sure if you can use lube or not to put one in. If you are desperate for a swim maybe give it a go. It sounds like you will know pretty quickly. The only think I'm not sure is that if the lube will prevent absorption. You'd have to give it a test run.
