Unpleasant smell

I'm now 8 days pp and my bleeding is minimal, very light. The past 2 days however I've noticed it's had a weird smell, its not nice at all and kinda feel embarrassed about it. I change my pad often regardless how much/little blood is on it.

Is it something to be concerned about or normal?

I don't feel unwell or anything

i had the same thing after DD2. i was 10 days pp when the smell started. i went straight back to my Ob who took a swab and rushed the results which came back positive for a pp uterine infection. i had no pain, or fever and didn't feel unwell at all, just had the funky smell . I'd get it checked.

If you have any kind of strange smell associated with bleeding or CM you need to get yourself checked. As GW mentioned, you may have an infection which will only get worse if you don't have it seen to. Hope it's nothing too serious

I hope not Jelly, just keep thinking of infection after what DD went through and possibility I've got something now as well

hopefully it's nothing serious. i had a two week course of ABs and had no ill affects from them

I've been a bit slack with this myself as I've had something similar that comes and goes, I'm still getting bleeding/discharge at nearly 9 weeks pp. You have motivated me to book in with my GP tomorrow, luckily DD is in daycare so I will only have to take DS with me - need a pap too so don't want to explain to a nearly three year old what the Dr is doing to mummy!!

how did you go at the GP Rosetti?

Yes Rosetti how did you go?
My GP suspects an infection/RPOC so I'm on antibiotics and need to have an ultrasound.
She asked if I'd had any fevers and I said no - she took my temp and it was 38.2!
I was a good girl and had a thin prep pap while I was there.

Thanks for asking ladies. I seen my GP and she thinks I do have an infection in my uterus. Done lots of swabs and internal check. Hoping she caught it early and no on 2 antibiotics. If the smell worsens or bleeding gets worse I'm to go straight to hospital. I go back next Wednesday to see how some of the swabs went and if I'd need the second course of AB
