    Vielle Pelvic Floor Toning Device

    Hello Girls,

Wasn't sure where to post this but I thought this might be a good starting point.

I saw one of these in Priceline and was wondering if anyone has used it? I've never really been sure if I'm doing my pelvic floor exercises properly. This thing says it will tell you.

Mind you, I'm not wetting myself yet but I don't want to let it get to that point either if you know what I mean. Prevention is better than cure.

    Cheers,

    Mel

Yeah Fletch, that's true ... very like the Epi No. I think it was retailing for the price you quoted too. Just wanted to make sure if was worth forking out the cash.

One thing I do know, the fridge magnet and instructional leaflet about "the knack" that comes in the Bounty Bag just ain't cutting it.

I was told to place little prompts around the house like little red stickers on taps, at kitchen etc and everytime you see one do a few discreet pelvic floor squeezes. But the red traffic light tip is the easiest, ie everytime you are sitting at a red traffic light do the squeeze LOL

Hi, umm I've never heard of it, sorry. My ob actually sent me to a physio who specialising in pelvic floor strenghthening. She was great, taught me about all the different muscles down there, showed me a model. All explanations were great and holds were only for a few seconds and only a few times once a day. They really helped, at 2nd appt I had an internal while I did them(thought I would be embarassed but she was great). I am now moderately strong, pregnant and no longer having the sneezing leak.
It is also great even if you are not wetting yourself as she got me to keep a bladder diary and taught me when I could hold on longer etc. I also tell you what the bi'g 'O' while dtd was a lot more intense aswell.

Hope that helps but maybe not. If you decide to go with the product let us all know how it works.

    Love

Helen, yeah that was the other option. I was going to go back to the physio I saw prior to the birth. She specialises in "that sort of thing". Better I do something now than wait until the next baby because I don't think my pelvic floor could stand up to another assault at this point.

Thanks girls. If I decide to get the device, I will let you know how it goes in case others are interested.

Instead of having an internal from a physio, you DH/DP is the best person to let you know if you have muscle strength there. Try it next time you are having i/course!

Hey Mel, I thought the way you can tell if you are doing the exercises properly is if when doing them you can stop your urine flow pretty quickly and completely. If you can, then you are doing the exercises properly and you have good strength!

Good luck if you need to see someone. I never thought I'd find anything embarassing after all that having a bub entails, but I think I'd be embarassed with that

Sal, the thing is, I can stop the flow but it isn't immediate. I used to be able to stop it immediately.

I know ... it is embarrassing. Somehow though the thought of having to put Tena Lady on the shopping list each week is more humiliating! No contest really.

Now if we really want to get down to embarrassing details ... Sheree, it's been so long between drinks, I can't even remember what sex was like, let alone how to do it. I might have to buy a book.

(This post is going to be moved to Adults Only ... I can feel it in my waters ... damn pelvic floor!)

Melbo try pilates. I've got a pelvic floor like a steel trap
(Hopefully it recovers back to present condition after bub No. 3!)

After a 26.5hour labour and delivering a 9pound 2oz baby I still cant stop the flow once it is started!. I have been to physio and swear by them ..they just let you know what you are doing right so you can make sure you are helping. I have no other issues so far ..touch wood ...so not to worried about the not being about to stop once started hehehe.

Sorry to bump this back up again but just thought I'd let you know that I bought the Vielle and started using it.

What it is, is a series of three weights which are inserted into the vagina as you would a tampon. You are supposed to choose the appropriate weight for you and try to hold it in for an increasing length of time each day. I've DEFINITELY found this helpful for locating the correct muscles and knowing that I'm doing the exercises properly. Apparently it takes 12 weeks to achieve total pelvic floor fitness so here goes nothin' ...

Ooooh!! Let me know how it goes. I think I need to do some work but just don't feel like it is helping. I have more of an urge issue than a leak issue (when I have to go I HAVE to go) but ....
