olive, are you speaking from experience there? this GP said if it doesnt work she will refer me to a gyno which sounds like a good idea to me at least a gyno will know what they are talking about hey. thing is, would have to be in the public system so its gonna take FOREVER!
Don't fluff around with the GP any more, just insist on a referral to the gyno, ASAP. My GF finally got a diagnosis of VV after years of pain/chronic infections, etc. Saw a gyno, had a tiny little operation, and it was better immediately. I'm not sure whether there were other treatments available to her but she is very happy now (and so is her DH ), just annoyed I think at how long it took to get a diagnosis in the first place.
Sorry to hear you're going through this. I second what the others have said and try and see a gyno as soon as you can. When I was getting similar issues investigated I also saw a physiotherapist that specialised in women's health & pelvic floor issues and she was great. These conditions aren't very well understood I found so its hard to find people that really understand what you're talking about.
Doctors also tried to prescribe me anti-depressents which I refused to take. And none of the creams worked for me. PM me if you want more info. Some of the symptoms sounds like VV but they could also be something else related to your episiotomy or something else again? You need to see someone who specialises in this area.
