thread: When did your period return post baby?

Well, it looks like 6 weeks post birth for me...

I am breastfeeding approx every 3 hours, sometimes she goes 4 and once she went 6, but ONCE! I was worried as DTD seemed to start the bleeding but now my usual AF signs have appeared and the bleeding is slightly heavier and i am resigned to it being the return of the dreaded witch! At least i don't suffer too much - after labour pains my AF cramps make me LAUGH!

THis would explain the tendency in my family to concieve easily - Mum had her first 3 kids in 3 years! SHe got PG within 3 months both times, while fully breastfeeding! Ho hum - i was hoping for a few more months off as well!

Does anyone else panic a bit at the blood? It's just that after the whole PG of not wanting to see blood (after 2 M/C's) and then the blood after birth being associated with this massive event, the birth of my child, it feels like AF is no longer a normal part of my life and when i see the blood i have to remind myself that it's a good sign, my body is healthy! This is excusable except that with my poor confuddled breastfeeding brain, i panic EVERY time i go to the loo! LOL!

Almost 6 months after Maddy and waiting for AF to return. Why is it that when I should be enjoying her long service leave, I keep waiting for her to return? *slaps forehead* We're not planning to TTC for another 2 years so I'm in no hurry to return to fertile land just yet! *LOL* (Even if you can be ovulating without AF around)

Well guys, my turn to bow out. After five years, apart from 1-2 days of very, very light spotting between weaning Ris and falling preg with Elijah, the night weaning has gotten me! It's not much but a bit more than spotting. Wonder what will happen next month. Far out, I feel like a newbie again!

    Hello,

I am in the same position. I got period back after 7 weeks, and am now 4 days late (if my normal cycle is still the same).

Have not done a test yet. Will do after a week. I am exclusively breast feeding so thought i could not get pregnant???

    Any advice??

Well almost 8 months to the day, AF returned. Not too bad, in fact I've now had 2 cycles since and *touchwood* I'm not having any cramps like I used to pre-baby. Hopefully it'll stay like that. Probably a tinge heavier than it used to be for the first couple of days, but I can handle that.

With 1st daughter, came back about 5mths (exclusive breastfeeding), with son, came back about 6mths(bfing too). Daughter no 2 is now almost 7 months old and still no period. (I started her later on solids though..nearer to 6mths, the others it was like 4-5 mths). But I am sure I was ovulating a couple of weeks ago..noticing CM and skin breaking out again.

DS is almost 10 months. I've been off the minipill for over 3 weeks now and still no period (maybe i didn't even need the minipill if i'm not ovulating??)

Anyway, never thought i would say this, but i want my period back so i can get pregnant again.

I feed every 6 hrs or so, but sometimes more so i would have thought it would be back by now??

I was one of the lucky ones so my ob said! Mine returned before my 6 week checkup with both boys and I breastfed them both.

I got my first period after DS yesterday - 10.5 months after he was born.

He is still bf, goes around 10 hours overnight, but every 4-6 hrs during the day.

I think AF arrived last night! So that's 5 months, 3 weeks & 3 days.

    Damn!

    DS is exclusively BF too.

AF returned for me this morning after a month of cramps and of Charlie fussing on the boob last night! He's 9 month 2 weeks and a day old.

Oh well, it was a good run...
