Aurelia is fully breastfed but I had my first period just last month, on the 19th. Now i'm having random bleeding that could be a period (probably is) or maaaybe implantation bleeding (i hope but probably not :P)
Ooooh, I can finally answer this - 11 months. 2 weeks after I dropped to just 2 feeds a day (that little eggie must have been raring to go!).
It was not painful (at last!) and as light as my pre-preg periods.
I think it's AF. My DD is 7 weeks old. I stopped bleeding after birth about 2 weeks ago, at the same time I got an implanon put in. I started bleeding again a couple of days ago, almost 2 weeks since I had the implanon put in. Does that sound like AF? I breastfeed almost all the time, she gets a bottle once a day unless we're out, then she may get more formula if we are somewhere I'm not confident enough to BF.
3 and half months of bliss with no AF... I have heard that it can return if you go more than 4 hours without a BF or expressing?? That seemed true enough with me...
mine came back after Paige started weaning at about 9 months and we started TTC when she was 12mths, it was the biggest break from AF I've ever had.
Noah was 11 months and still breastfeeding when I got AF back. Think I was the odd one out compared to friends that had babies around the same time. Stopped bfing at 13/14 months as we wanted to do IVF sooner rather than later.
I'm still waiting. Quite happily!
8 Months, 2.5 Weeks this time round.
Mine came back 16weeks & 1 day. My sister - 16 weeks after both her kids. My mum - 3-4 months (all 5 kids) and my other sister... yup, 3-4 months too!
Mine came back todaaaayyy *boohoo* (DD2 is 8 weeks)
I was expecting at least a couple more months without AF because DD2 is fully BF'd!! No fair, body!!
I got a script for the mini-pill yesterday but haven't even been to the chemist to get it!
*rawr* Lol the universe is so mean sometimes :)
Just got mine back today, 4 months, 3 weeks and 3 days after giving birth to my DD. I was not really expecting it so soon since she is still feeding (exclusively from the breast) every 2hrs during the day but since she usually has a 6-8hr stretch over-night I am not completely shocked.
Although, it has DF broaching the "so we can try for another now?" subject... ekk!!
Double post
2 months with DD & she was exclusively BF
Mine came back 6 weeks after DD was born (she's nearly 7mths now) and has been a 28-31day cycle ever since - I am also an exclusive BF :o
I got gipped too. but it is probably because Leah goes longer than 4 hours between feeds overnight. AF arrived at 8 weeks.
Bubs was a little prem so jaw muscles underdeveloped. Milk supply was up and down (more down then up).
Was hoping it'd be longer. PMT so not cool when you have an anti-sleep reflux baby.
Got mine back sunday so nearly 7 months- so that wasnt too bad- but how strange is this. It is a normal period but for the first time EVA I have no period pain!!! What a bonus. Everything else is the same, even the sensitive nipps, migrane before, acne etc- but no pain!!!!
Anyone got an explaination for this????
after 15 months free- welcome back aunty flow
I had a similar experience, det. My period was also a lot lighter than usual and yep, no pain at all which is unusual for me. Hoping it keeps up this way!
at 2mths here ... was so disappointed wasn't later as i so didn't miss it  ... i too was BF ;)
OK question girls
since i posted last time, i havent had another period!!!!
Is this normal???
its been nearly two months now since i had it !!
I just got my period back when DD turned 8mths!! And I'm breastfeeding :D
no AF here, and ds is almost 5 months and has been on formula for just over 2 months now.
With DD2 came back at 7 months, feeding around the clock, still am
AF returned at 10weeks. I wish I had found this forum a few days ago. I went to the doctors two nights ago as bright red blood was dripping out of me.
I am exclusively breastfeeding and this is my third child. With my first two children AF came back at around 9/10 months. I expected the same this time so when I got AF on Saturday I went to the hosiptal as I thought there was something wrong, the doctor who saw me said it was unusual to be bleeding. Two days after seeing him I had bled again, but this time more, I soaked a pad in 30mins. I panicked so went back to the hospital, I am now on tablets to stop me bleeding and I have had to stop breastfeeding. I am going for a scan today to check if everything is ok. If it is I hope to start breastfeeding again.
Has anyone else been in the same boat. Are the first periods normally this heavy after giving birth?
urgh, I had postnatal bleeding continuously for 6 weeks, and now at 10 weeks AF has returned. And i am exclusively breastfeeding. this sucks
My period returned when my son was 14 months old. At this point he dropped from about 6 BFs a day (4 during the day and 2 overnight) to around 4 (3 during the day and 1 overnight).
Just had my first period after DS2 and it was a killer. Really painful!
I didn't get AF until after fully weaning either of my boys. I have really only weaned them to get my cycle back so I could TTC again. I certainly won't be in any hurry to wean the next one. lol.
I put 18 months + because AF returned yesterday, and DS is 18 months tomorrow. Got AF back just less than 5 weeks after stopping BF, although was down to two feeds per day for months before that.
My AF returned today!! It's been a long time between drinks!
22 months of no AF, prior to conceiving DD my last AF was November 2008 :o
DD is 13 months old and breastfed on demand though the feeds have dropped slightly lately with my return to work.
My bleed returned at 6 months this time, i was a little suprised as with the other three, I think it was at least 9 months. But here we are. Not bad for a 44 yr old I spose!
*bump* :)
DD1 - 5 weeks after lochia ceased. She was FF.
DS - 4 weeks after lochia ceased. Primarily FF with some BF's for 10 weeks.
DD2 - 14 months. Primarily BF with comp FF.
All the stuff you read says that up to 12months if you bf or less if your bubs sleeps through the night. I'm still bf my DS 4 times a day, none overnight. And I've been getting kind of like ewcm and cramping for a few weeks but still nothing. It's making me paranoid to the point I am again a poas addict. I'm in the ttc boat again but I don't want to give up bf so I can get my bfp. Thoughts people?
Sent from HTC wildfire using TAPATALK, so forgive any spelling errors its a small keyboard.
Just got af back and DS is almost 16 mo.
About 4 weeks after. And then again about 2-3 weeks after that one and then 3-4 days after that one! :( And that was with breastfeeding and bottle feeding.
My first AF came 4 weeks after lochia ceased and DD was fully breastfed however, had started sleeping around 6-8 hours over night. My next AF came 3 months later, DD is still fully breastfed and sleeps 10-12 hours overnight. That was 4 weeks ago, so I am waiting to see if I am going to return to my regular 29-30 day cycle yet.
I stopped BF at about 7 months and about two weeks later started spotting. This went on for about a month and a half. The whole time my hormones were whack and the last week I felt sick and exhausted. Finally about 9 months to the day post baby AF was here. This time the most heavy I'd ever seen. Exercise really boosted it too. I had quite a few small clots and a pretty steady flow. I could tell my hormones were very off balance before and somewhat during the first visit. It sucked. Good luck to the rest of you though! Hopefully your hormones can manage themselves better than mine :)
