i never got my period on the minipill, was on it until Oct (9 months or so, cos i didn't start til about 6 weeks after birth).
It took 2 months off it before i got my period, so i'm assuming i wasn't o'ing anyway... Not sure if i will take anything next time.
I didn't think most people got their periods on the minipill - only on the normal one. I actually had 1 spotting incident, but had taken the pill a few hours late, so i think that was why.
I just did regular HPT to make sure i wasn't pregnant.
Lucy... i have been on the mini pill for years....
my cycles were a bit wierd before alexa.. they would be normal for a couple of months - ie 28 days & bleed for 5 days... then other times they would be every 2 weeks & bleed for aweek.. not fun...
Since i have had alexa i have had my period 2 weekly (I took 2 pills a day for a month to regulate that)... & now it seems that my cycle is 5-6weekly & only for about 2 days & really really light.... I spoke to my GP last week about it & he said that in face the mini pill is like depo & can stop your cycles & i think that is what it is finally doing to me... but when i come off the BCP they should go back to normal!!!

Thanks Girls.......Heidi, I am BF a lot too, but I have had one "normal" period, so I think I have started to ovulate as well (and Lexie sleeps through the night too, so sometimes I go for 12 hourts without giving her a BF..)
why do want(?) a period/cycle?!
I've been on the minipill for 7.5 months and had one AF - which was very minor, lasted a day if that, and wasn't a real one in terms of being so light and not needing anything other than a pantyliner (TMI)
Ruby has been breastfed, and I got the first AF when she started on solids. We often go 12 hours o/night or during the day w/out a bf. I think I had a tiny little spotting the other day, but again so light and minor I can't be sure.
Bfeeding definitely interferes with your cylces, but BF combined with the mini-pill seems to do both. I know I'm having some kind of cycle in terms of mood etc,but nothing else.

Nickel.......no idea why I hate not having a cycle......possibly due to 3 longs years TTC with no BF or artifical hormones and a very rythmic 29 day cycle, then an unplanned pregnancy whilst on the pill and fully BF........LOL!
I guess I just like the pattern and "regularity" of a cycle IYKWIM?
I tried taking the mini pill after our last two kids. I couldnt stay on it, it made me moody and agitated. I also had heaps of breakthrough bleeding as well and that nearly drove me mental.
Lucy - once I AF returns I used to be regular on the minipill but this time round after AF started (6 months after birth)I have had two cycles of 30 odd and two of 21 odd now I'm at 18 days and am all confused as to whether or not AF is on it's way or not. AF only returns after birth for me once night time feeds ease up (which for DS1 was at 8 weeks and Samuel around November ) - doens't seem to be any correlation for me with the pill. I'm guessing the cycles all over the place do however
Lucy I am on the minipill have been since 6wks post birth and have not had 1 period yet. Although I am still b/f ashton 5 times a day, 8am to 8pm. He sleeps 12 hrs solid a night.
My ob suggested I go on mini-pill but I was concerned as to the effect on my baby. I think it actually says in the leaflet I got with it that the hormones do pass into the breast milk and that they dont know what the effects are on babies yet.
Since my dd is quite sensitive, i didnt want to start taking it if it was going to upset her tummy or anything.
its a little crazy cos now i think i need a preg test...
