Only about 24 days. LP 8-9 days. If I know I want to start trying I've seen a naturopath and taken a concoction that has vitex in it. Usually only one or two cycles and it does the trick long enough for me to fall. With DD2 I didn't and she's 20months old, but I did have 2 chems and a m/c trying.
The period is shedding of the lining. The length of it doesn't matter, the luteal phase is the time after ovulation and the start of bleeding, which from what I remember ideally should be 10-14 days. How long you bleed for is irrelevant.
