Can the pill stop your period?

Back when I took the pill (years ago) I was told to start on the sugar pills on the first day of AF. (I was on monofeme as well & they had days labeled I think.) I always started on the day of the week in the sugar ones.
I think from memory it slowed/stopped mine, but cen't remember. Sorry. I don't think I ever did it that way.

I was also taught to start the active pills at the end of the first period, not the start.

I've read the instructions millions of times now, so has df, and it definately says that when starting it for the first time to take the white pills in the grey shaded area on the first day of your period.
I am doing it right, besides I'm not asking if I'm doing it right, I'm asking if the pill can stop your period..
The answer is no, it can't.
