I could see complications arising from an excess of 80 ml being lost a month. I used to get horribly tired after AF every month when I was vegetarian.

That's interesting... I've no idea how much I lose, but when I donate blood, they take about 450ml... They'll do that every 3 months, so you'd have to have menstrual loss of 150ml per month to equal that. I wonder if menstrual blood is more 'concentrated' or something??

Huzzah, I'm not the only one!

Since coming off the minipill a year ago, my cycles have been approx 4.5-5 weeks, I lose up to 5ml pre-period, 10ml on day 1, 7.5-10ml day 2, 5ml day 3, under 5ml for the next up to 3 days. So usually a 3-day period with a bit of spotting either side, losing up to 40ml each time. Sometimes only 30ml. I sometimes worry this isn't enough, but don't fret too much. Every now and then I'll lose 60ml instead in the same time so that surely makes it all better.
