Yes you can get non-latex condoms. I find that certain brands are a bit ouchie, even with additional lubrication (which you should use any time you are using a condom, even if you naturally lubricate).

Well an update - we easily found some non-latex condoms, which we tried last night with success! No burning, irritation or pain. Woohoo! Thanks for the tips!

Still going to ask my GP about the injection...

I haven't had a problem with the injection at all. Some people do. I've been on & off. Usually I have no AF while on it, but I just had a light one after almost 6 months. I'm due for the next shot next week.

When I've been off it for a bigger amount of time, like over a year, I've had spotting during the first 3 months, but thats all. No AF.
I started using it when DD1 was about 9 months old. DD3 is only here because I was slack at getting it done (over a year slack). I had the first one after DS's birth when he was 2 days old & breastfed him for 23 months. DD3 was only weaned 6 weeks ago & I've had 4 or 5 shots since her birth.

I have found that it builds up in my system. I stopped using it after about 6 months & it took 4 months to fall with DD2. After 18 months it took 11 months to fall with DS.

It can affect your hormones, body & AF like any contraceptive, but it works for me. No weight gain, no hormonal issues that I know of
