Without going into too much detail, I've had a number of spiritual experiences since DD was born, particularly from mid 08 onwards. I'm aware at the moment that I'm more spiritually sensitive (due to being pregnant) as I'm sure all pregnant women are.
When I was pregnant with DD, in my 1st trimester I had a very vivid, emotional (in a positive way) dream about meeting her - I dreamt I was bathing her. In my dream she was a girl, and wah lah, she is indeed. She didn't look exactly like she did in my dream though, I honestly wasn't expecting the big, chubby, curly-haired furry bub I got! I thought she would be a small, Swedish looking baby like I was but those Greek genes overpowered my wimpy Swedish ones lol.
I had a similar dream last night about this pregnancy - the dream was all about after he was born, and I have very distinct memories of holding him in my arms. Certain aspects don't fit, like in my dream I had a hospital birth, though I think I might be subconsciously working through previous trauma from my last birth. But I had the same sense with the dream about DD what the dream was "real" in some way, that I actually met my babies.
Has anyone had a similar experience, or is this a bit of a stretch? FWIW, a psychic told me at the beginning of this year that I'd have a little boy in Feb (we weren't TTC!) and also told my mum she'd have a grandson soon (without knowing we were related). Everything else she said came true so I trust this and have always had the sense I was having a boy anyway. But of course, it's possible that this is the reason why i dreamt of a boy in the first place!
With DD I had three dreams. In the first I was PG but not showing. I saw myself standing there holding my stomach.
In the second I had a belly & I was holding it.
In the third I was holding a baby.
Two weeks later I had a +ve test.
My sister (7 at the time) also dreamt that I had a baby girl shortly before we found out.
Nothing with the boys sadly.
This time though I have had much clearer more distinct dreams & I am certain that I have met her!
I had such a longing for this baby which intensified in the 18 months before finding out I was PG, and I never thought it would happen. I was dreaming of babies, bfing babies, holding them & I would wake up crying. I think now that these feelings intensified in preparation for what was coming for us
Since finding out I was pg I have had at least 5 dreams of her, just little things, I have dreamt of feeding her, one dream I had I was strapping her into the carseat & she gave me the most delicious smile. Most of the dreams were in my first tri, but I have had a couple since. I get a real 'sense' of her in my dreams. Sometimes I get that sense of her when I'm awake & just lying down focussing on her.
DH also dreamt of her one night, he woke up & his exact words to me were 'I met our little girl last night'.
I really believe that she has chosen to come to us & I'm so excited about finally meeting her!
Aww that's so gorgeous! It makes sense when you think about it too, that you'd be able to meet them before they're born. Thanks for posting that. I wonder how many other parents have had these experiences? Did your babies look like they did in your dreams?
TBH I don't remember what DD looked like in my dreams as it was so long ago, and I only dreamt of her as a baby once. The boys I didn't dream of at all. But this time I do have a clear idea of what she will look like, so it will be really interesting to see!
I was interested to read that your DD doesn't look exactly like your dream. When DH had his & he told me about we compared how she looked in each of our dreams & it seems it was a bit different (I dreamt of a bit of brown hair, soft not too long or thick, and he dreamt of black hair like a crewcut!) - so one of us is wrong! (hopefully him - black crewcut?)
Also in some of my dreams she is about 4-6 months old, so will be good to see then too.
Oh and one other - I dreamt the other night that I gave birth to a baby girl, but in my BA posted here it said it was a boy - and then I read it & went 'oh yeah, it is too!' hope that one doesn't mean anything!
