    Finding Feathers

    Hey All,

I was just wondering across the board of the various religions if there is a significance of finding feathers at your feet?

I don't mean waking up in the morning to discover you have ripped a hole in your doona and feathers are everywhere, but more so to be out walking, wondering about aimlessly or going through the house to randomly look down and see a fluffy feather (as opposed to the sleek feathers) IYKWIM.

I rarely look down when I am walking but lately I seem to be glancing down and there will be a feather there directly in my line of vision. At first I didn't pay it any mind but now I have started picking them up and bringing them inside and popping them in a special spot.

Any Ideas or am I just drawn to all things fluffy ?

it usually means you will be getting a message

I have a bowl that has nothing but feathers that have crossed my path over the years, funny thing is that some of them just disappear after a while nowhere to be found again - the altar that has this bowl is quite secluded and unless you specifically went into the room it is in - you wouldn't see them

Interesting that you said that I had one pure white one, really pretty actually, and I popped it up on my mantle with the eagle feather that I found and I cannot find it now, its gone.

I wonder what the message will be - I hope its good news I don't want any more dreams about losing babies coz they all seem to come true.

I have always been facinated with American Indian lore... while it doesn't always connect with what I believe in, I have always found the traditions and beliefs to be the most peaceful. Here is an extract I have found in regards to feathers, specifically Eagles.

Eagle feathers have great cultural and spiritual value to American Indians as religious objects. Both Bald and Golden Eagles (and their feathers) are highly revered and considered sacred within American Indian traditions, culture and religion. They are honored with great care and shown the deepest respect. They represent honesty, truth, majesty, strength, courage, wisdom, power and freedom. As they roam the sky, they are believed to have a special connection to God.

According to traditional American Indian beliefs, the Creator made all the birds of the sky when the World was new. Of all the birds, the Creator chose the Eagle to be the leader... the Master of the Sky.

The Eagle flies higher and sees better than any other bird. Therefore, its perspective is different from other creations that are held close to the Earth, and it is closer to the Creator. The Creator also has a different perspective of what occurs below in this world of physical things in which humankind resides. The Eagle spends more time in the higher element of Father Sky than other birds, and Father Sky is an element of the Spirit.

The Eagle is considered to be a messenger to God. It was given the honor of carrying the prayers of man between the World of Earth and the World of Spirit, where the Creator and grandfathers reside. To wear or hold an Eagle feather causes the Creator to take immediate notice. With the Eagle feather, the Creator is honored in the highest way.

The wings of an Eagle represent the balance needed between male and female, each one dependent upon the strengths and abilities of the other.

When one receives an Eagle feather, that person is being acknowledged with gratitude, love and ultimate respect. The holder of the feather must ensure that anything that changes one’s state of mind (alcohol and drugs) must never come in contact with a sacred Eagle feather.

The keeper of an Eagle feather makes a little home where the feather will be kept safely and protected. It should be hung up within one’s home, not placed in drawers or cupboards.

Eagle feathers are never to be abused, shown disrespect, dropped or contaminated. Only real true human Men and Women carry the Eagle feather.
