I'm not sure that this belongs in this forum, I figure it's to do with spirituality of some kind, so mods feel free to redirect me if I'm in the wrong spot.
A family friend who lives up the street called last night and spoke to DH. She was calling about something else but when DH hung up he told me she had 'seen' me going into labour.
I really don't mean any offense to anybody here, but normally I don't 'believe' in this kind of stuff (I just see too many charlatans claiming to have psychic/clairvoyant abilities, I DO believe very strongly that those abilities exist, just that they are rarer than people claim and that those who truly possess the gift of being able to see certain things are more likely to keep it to themselves or only share it with those close to them, kwim?), but this lady is someone who I trust implicitly - I have never known her to be far off the mark when she has mentioned a 'vision' or whatever she calls it, and I know her son has the same abilities (he has seen the guardian angels/spirits of a few family members).
Anyway, she told DH that I would go into labour, 'Either Tuesday or Thursday, at 10:30 - I can't see whether it's day or night but it will be cold, and the first sign will be your waters breaking'.
She didn't know that I'm overdue, she just *told* DH that I hadn't had the baby yet and then told him what she'd seen.
I'm all excited now lol, I've got my fingers crossed for tonight because by 10:30 this morning it will be nice and warm out, so I'm assuming it will happen at night, if this friend is correct...
Are there any BBers out there who have had personal experience (either themselves, or close friends or family) with psychic abilities, and has anybody ever made predictions like this for you and been right?? As I said, I trust this lady as she's not been too far off in the past when she's shared things she's seen, but then again I don't want to put too much faith in her words in case I get disappointed!! So hopefully some of you out there have stories like mine that you can share with me to keep me happy lol
I personally do not have an ability (much to my own dismay I think it would be an amazing gift) but I have sort advice from a couple of mediums and tarot readers. All but one which I had suspicions of, were 100% accurate or not too far off the mark. Particularly the last lady I saw oh my gawd was she good!.
My bestie has a gift but us scared of it. She feels people/visitors in my home all the time and one time when I was renovating the MB, she just said out of the blue "Annie likes the job you are doing in here" Annie is second gen wife who lived in my home and I have always felt a bit of a connection with her for some reason. She also made her presnce known when I was pregger with Niki.
I hope she is right about her prediction and that your bubbie comes this week could be next Tues or Thurs as well. Mostly I tend to use these things as a guide rather than as definately going to happen iykwim.
I don't think i have "the gift" truly but i see dreams and i will hear about the person/s involved in my dreams a few days later.
Just 2 nights ago, i was lying on the couch thinking about some family friends that i hadn't seen for years and mum calls me that instant (as i'm still thinking about them) to tell me that they arrived for a visit to see her. I was spooked.
Another thing which happened in my teenage years was when i dreamt of a friend (who is muc older than i) that she would fall pregnant in February. I told her about my dream. I didn't know that they were TTC or anything. Well... she conceived in February and the bubsy was born in November. I couldn't believe it.
Oh yes, I had a really strong connection with a friend who lived a few doors up. All this stuff just poured out of me one night, stuff about her past, the murder of a friend that she witnessed that I didn't know about, about the relationship of this friend and their previous-life connection, even told her his physcial appearance and name...then proceeded to tell her that her baby would be born on Nov 3. At the time she'd been having lots of false labours and the date was still nearly a month away so she thought I was craaaazy. So we sort of laughed about it and forgot it. Anyway, eventually she was admitted for an induction on Melb cup day... and she laboured long, then the baby was born by emergency CS about about 5 minutes past midnight...on the third of Nov! LOL

GothMum: my friend in gladstone (!! ) also has a real gift for this stuff. she rarely harps on about it, but when i was pg with DD she rang me up and told me that my baby was coming at 38 weeks. i was 36 at the time and just laughed it off. sure enough at 38 +1 i went into labour...
she can see many things but only ever really discusses it with me as her family is quite religious and she doesnt want to freak them out.
I have had my own experiences, but over the years have been (i think rather effectively!) blocking it out. in all honesty i just dont like being able to see or communicate on that level as i have found that sometimes it doesnt leave you alone. it is a gift to have but it does come with pretty serious responsibilities too.

I maybe on a different track here BUT when my sister was pregnant i had the same dream three times ... i was in small loungeroom in an old house with a fire place and a little toddler walking straight up to me, i couldn't see my sister & BIL there but i could sense they were standing to the side of me. I couldn't tell if the toddler was a boy or girl other than the fact they were wearing a pink dress ... their hair was the most gorgeous copper colour with big brown eyes ... and strangely their face looked similar to mine at the same age.
I told my sister when she was pregnant & she said she had a friend whom studied dreams & if you dream of a girl it means the baby due is a boy.
Well, my sister DID have a boy ... with gorgeous copper coloured hair with big brown eyes ... and yes, he looked like me at the same age (and everyone mention just that to confirm it) ... For me it was so special that i saw him before anyone else did in a DREAM
A friend who has 'the gift'...
