    Thumbs up Thankyou

I'm sure this Spirituality forum is a first amongst the parenting sites and I just wanted to say thankyou BB for, I guess, being so brave!

Having been a regular poster in the 'Religion' thread since it began many months ago I've been very impressed by the mutual respect displayed. After, how many? 19/20 pages of posts there was only really one tense moment and I hope the peace will continue.

Being a curious soul I hope that, even though I am Christian I will be 'allowed' to visit the other faith threads and continue to ask respectful questions within in a similar way to the original Religion thread (?)

Thanks again Kelly, Yael, Christy and the Mod Squad.

Of course you can visit other faiths Within the mods there are quite a few different spiritual beliefs which are followed, we thought it may be time to share with the BB community. Of course this will be closely watched to make sure there is no flaming on others and others beliefs but a place to explore what we believe & have questions about other religions answered.

    Of course you can Bath!

It will be great to ask questions, and get questions answered by others. There is a lot of colective knowledge in these areas by mods and members, and hopefully we can teach everyone in the world a thing or two about how to get along!

But we will be keeping a close eye on everything in here just to make sure that everyone is being respecful! I guess because its such a sensitive topic, i would please ask everyone to think twice about things they write, and re-read them to make sure that they do come across the right way, and respectful to everyone and their beliefs!

Thanks girls One thing that occured to me, when visiting other faiths, was to take on board the philosophy of "When in Rome..." eg. I found that in the general Religion thread that some members preferred to write God as G-d... whereas i didn't change my 'ways' (of writing "God" in that thread I think I will when I visit a thread where the majority of members do... does that make sense?

Oh, i think that questioned was asked to me a few times in the general thread, but i was so busy around that time that i never replied.

I'll try and find time tonight (please remind me if i don't) to explain why i do it, but i certainly wouldn't expect anyone else to... maybe the reasoning will make this more clear.

When i do it, i'll post it under the Judaism thread for you.

Ta Yael That would be great. If making such a minor change to my post helps to convey the respect I have for other faiths I would be more than happy to oblige.

I'm so excited too SJ! I have so many questions. Spirituality is such a huge part of life, pro-creation and family life that it's wonderful that BB can support faith by including it in this site. I know it could be nerve-wracking to moderate but if the 'general public' can be exposed to respectful discussion then the common idea of the "religious nut" can be dispelled.

I really think the average person (we all know there isn't such a thing but YKWIM) has less and less exposure to religion these days and too many believe that raising the subject is just asking for trouble. I'm sure than there are many members who will now be able to drop in here and discretely have their curiosity satiated. And best of all they will see that the faithful among us are not out to convert/bible bash/shove it down their throats.

I also agree that this is a great idea. I am very interested in other faiths. A colleague of mine once read the Koran so that he could better understand where Muslims are coming from. I think that's a great idea but I just don't have the time to do all the reading I would need to do to understand better what people belief and why. So hopefully here I can learn some things a bit at a time.

I also think it's very generous of the mods to open themselves up on such a personal, and often controversial topic. I think it's great that so many cultures and faiths are represented by the mods and I look forward to finding out more.
