i have just been told about this site from a great friend that said this could help me with my healing...
im 22 years old, i have just been through my second miscarriage on sunday the 15th August i was 14 week..
my first miscarriage on december 7th i was 17 weeks doctors couldn't provide me wid any answers as to what happened or the cause, i had a autospy done on my baby and nothing was wrong...
i was having bleeding around the 8th week and everytime i had bleeding i would rush to the doctors or hospital..and they would continue to tell me everything was fine
and baby was still good i would have visited the doctors over 20 times when i became pregnant the second time i slowed down on everything
i stopped sports i was always tired and did nothing but lay in bed i reduced my work hours, i even had to send my step daughter
back to her mum to prevent any stress or busy activities a eight year old would want to do...
When i lost my second baby on sunday i was doing nothing but watching tv i had a hard cough and had a lot of fluid loss i rushed up to the hospital and started bleeding heavy the doctors pronounced
it as a miscarriage straight away which broke my heart, but what really annoys me is they did a scan for the heart and i heard my baby's heart beating so strong but nothing was done to help as i was 14 weeks baby
was so small they push me to the ellery ward and i lost my baby that night on the toilet...after that happen the next morning the doctor told me i should of had a stitch as i hav trouble holding baby in the second
trimester why didnt these doctors do a internal exam or give me a stitch....
Can someone please reply if they have ever has a similar experience and if there is any chance of havin a healthy baby one day....
I couldn't read and not reply. I am so, so sorry (for lack of better words) that you have had to endure two second trimester losses. I haven't had second trimester losses but wanted to tell you that I had two first trimester losses and went on to have a full term healthy pg which resulted in my 3 yo DD, so yes, there is hope.
Sounds like you desperately want to try for another baby, so I would go to your GP & demand, yes demand a referral to someone with experience in second trimester losses. Try to obtain the hospital report and any other supporting information to take with you. Please note though and I don't want to put a negative on this but in alot of cases given your age & that it is your second loss they may tell you that they can't do anything. Someone may know something different on the site given your losses are second trimester but in my personal experience with my losses all being first trimester I have not been really taken seriously to do anything until now (up to my fifth but third in a row). I had two first trimester losses prior to conceiving DD and was told they would not look at doing anything until I had three. I have endured three m/c in a row with ttc # 2. Please note that I was already referred to a F/S due to other secondary fertility issues so that has helped get the ball rolling.
I truly hope you can find some help & closure here at BB & information to assist you with the right course of action to take for you. Emotionally it wilol take a long time but know that you are amongst many ladies that have endured the same as you. Best of luck
I too am very very sorry to hear this has happened to you and your precious babies. Where I work (as a midwife) they would definately offer you the suture to the cervix next pregnancy regardless of your age early in the second trimester. They often don't place it until 15-16weeks but can put it in earlier. With this happening twice before I'd be surprised if you didn't find an Obstetrician who wouldn't offer you this. Perhaps have a consultation with one when your ready to try again to ensure they will but it shouldn't be a problem. If they deny you the procedure if you asked for it and you were to loss another pregnancy in the second trimester or third then they would be subject to legal action against them which is why I'd be very surprised if they wouldn't do it.
Hi sweetheart. I am so sorry that you had to go through another loss and that the doctors were no help at all.
I also lost my baby at 20 weeks due to an incompetent cervix.
Nothing was wrong with bub but my body just couldn't hold him any longer.
I fell pregnant again a year later and went to 22 weeks before an OB asked me why I hadn't had a scan of my cervix. I didn't know I needed one was all I could say.
So the next day they took me for a scan and saw that my cervix was quite short and was in the operating theatre less than 24 hours after the scan.
The doctors and the gp both told me that it was bad luck we lost Phoenix, but if anyone had of looked at my file they would have known to check my cervix sooner.
It makes me so angry that after all the appointments I went to at the hospital they didn't pick it up sooner.
At least hun, you know now that you need the stitch put in and a lot of ladies on here have had one put in and been very successful. I am one of them.
Hi Trishalee, I have just read your post and wanted to send you lots of hugs!
While I haven't lost a baby in the second trimester, I have lost 6 in the first trimester.
My first angel had developmental abnormalities that meant he wouldn't survive after birth and I had to have a d&c with him.
My next 3 pregnancies also ended in early miscarriages before 8 weeks.
Finally I became pregnant with my DS (now 20months) and carried him to 41wks+5d before he was born via emergecy c-section due to me having cephalo-pelvic disproportion (where the lower part of the pelvis is smaller than the upper part).
My hubby and I started TTC in september last year, but we didn't get a BFP until January of this year which we sadly lost. We were lucky enough to get another BFP in March of this year but sadly lost that one too.
I have had numerous blood tests to find out why I have trouble carrying past 8 weeks but so far nothing has turned up.
We were lucky enough to get another BFP on July 19th of this year, the day after my 23rd birthday, and so far it has stayed put. I will be 10wks tomorrow, so it's a big thing for as this is only the 2nd pregnancy where I have made it this far.
I just wanted to let you know that there is hope. There are many wonderful ladies on here who have been through similar experiences and who can help you out and give you advice. Many of them have had to have a stitch as well.
From what I have been told by some friends here on BB who have had it done, you get the stitch somewhere between 7 & 14 weeks, depending on how high risk your pregnancy is. Some need it done earlier, while some are able to wait a bit longer before having it done.
Talk it over with your doctor, and bring up every concern and question that you have. If your doctor can't or won't help you, then you will have to find another doctor who will listen to you and do everything that needs to be done to save your baby.
I hope I have helped a little bit. If you ever need anyone to talk to I'm here any time and you can send me a PM.
I could not read this post and not reply. I am so sorry for the loss of your two babies. Its a horrible horrible thing to go through.
My first three pregnancies resulted in losses. my first and third were both early first trimester miscarriages, my second I went into preterm labour at 20ish weeks, my daughter was born via E-C-Sect at 24 weeks but was too little to survive.
We were never given any answers as to why we had so much trouble with pregnancies, Drs didn't think it was cervix related it was put down to "just one of those things"
Fortunately for us our forth pregnancy went almost right up to our due date, it was not without its hiccups but we made it.
I try as hard as I can to find something good in every bad situation. and please do not read this the wrong way but I guess the thing you have learned in all the devastation is that you need a little "extra help" when it comes to carrying babies. This knowledge should be quite empowering for you, you have an answer, a reason why and that is something very positive to have.
It won't make your next pregnancy any easier, I bet you will find it one of the most challenging but you have something positive to hope for and to hold on to because you have a solution of sorts.
I so hard for you that when you have the strength to continue that its a wonderful journey for you.
Until that time comes, be gentle with yourself take the time to grieve your little angels.
