I found out on Friday I had a missed miscarriage. I am booked in to have a D&C on Thursday because we just wanted it to be over with. I didn't want the pain and emotional side of going through it 'naturally'. Yesterday (Sunday) I had some brown discharge. I instantly got scared. Today I have bright red blood - not much, just when I wipe. I really didn't want it to happen like this.
How long does the process normally take?
Do I need to go to hospital to miscarry?
Will I still need the D&C on Thursday?
I wish I had've just miscarried normally instead of 'waiting' to. I worked out the dates of when the baby stopped growing and it was Christmas Day. That just makes me feel even more crappy.
How many weeks pregnant are you?? The bleeding is much greater around 10+ weeks. You don't need to go to hospital to miscarry but you do need to monitor the bleeding. It shouldn't be more than a heavy period for blood loss and the pain can vary between individuals. You can take pain relief - whatever you normally do.
How long - unfortunately this is an unanswerable question. For some, the entire sac is passed intact. For others it occurs in stages and can take longer. Days to weeks.
Will you need the D&C - it depends on what happens with you over the next few days. Speak with your doctor on Monday. They may want a repeat ultrasound and if your body has completely managed your miscarriage on its own, they will try to avoid surgery.
We had a complete miscarriage, coincidentally on Christmas day, too. For us, like Michelle 71 explained can happen, the whole sack passed. Afterwards, our OB advised I'd probably bleed for 1-2 weeks, but if it kept going I'd need a D&C. I bled for exactly a week, then had an U/S last week which confirmed that everything had gone. I'm not sure if I bled for only a week because we were only about 6 1/2 weeks??
Hope your doctor can give you some more answers/information tomorrow.
Are you okay i am for you. I am sorry i havent called. i thought you might want some space but you know i am here day or night. and you can come over when ever you want if u need to get out of the house
