    Hi Rosa,

Sorry but i've never heard of this before.... I have plenty of experience with chromosomes etc as have a daughter with cystic fibrosis and have had genetic testing with 2nd 3rd and 4th pg.

You should speak to a geneticist or a genetic councellor as they are the one's that will explain the best and give you different options and all the emotional councelling to deal with it all.

I am in NSW and have dealt with Westmead Childrens Hospital for 9 years and they have been such a great support through some tough times.

When I got told about my dd having CF my normal GP couldn't decipher the results properly and basically mis-diagnosed her and that is why you probably need to get it explained by a person in that particular field as it doesn't sound quite right to me (im no expert).

I probably haven't helped but i hope you are ok. Having an understanding of what happened is going to help you it's confusing when you don't fully understand.

    Hugs to you sweetie xoxoxox

    Hi Rosa

My third m/c they did testing and the baby had a 3rd chromosome on chromosome 20. Do you know which chromosome had the 3rd? What I mean is for example I know that an extra Chromosome 18 is Edward's Syndrome and an extra chromosome 21 is Downs Syndrome, were they specific about the chromosome? Was it the baby or you? You definitely need more information.... Call your doctor and ask them to explain in more detail. At the time you were told you were processing so much information that it is hard to understand everything.
Please keep us posted as I would be interested to hear the outcome and you need to know for your own peace of mind.
By the way, we are pregnant so trying again is scary but we come out the other side!

thanks for your response, the doc just told me that it was an extra chromosome but said that it was nothing to do with me or my husband, it was just an extra one and that's how he explained it to us, it was 1 in 7 chance that this happens and we were just the unlucky ones and it wasnt a bad thing he said on our behalf, it was just an unlucky shot that this happened to us. I will try and contact my doc when i fall pregnant again and see if i can find out but i am sure that he would have told us if it was a bad gene, just to let you know as well that the doc had the results in front of him and he pretty much read everything that was on the sheet and didnt mention anything to do with numbers or anything about it being a bad chromosome, what do you think??? Thanks for your help we both appreciate it.

Hi Rosa - Have you and your hubby both had chromosomal checked ? or did you have the baby tested ?
I would find out more before you concieve again so you can make an informed decision. A
genetic councillor would be best. A one in seven chance of what happening again ? Did he mean a 1/7 chance of having a M/C. Sorry this has to happen to anyone.
