Oh Sara, what a horrible experience for you, being shunted in and out of the ED, hearing people talk about you and not knowing what's going on. I'm so sorry you had to go through that.
Thank you for sharing, I hope you feel a little better (if possible?) for writing that all down.
Sara, Thank you for sharing your story with us. Reid is so lucky to have a Mummy as strong and brave and loving as you are. I'm so sorry for your family's loss. I'm so sorry that you had to be alone at that time, I'm sorry that Reid couldn't stay. My best wishes to you and your family.
Sara, thank you for sharing. I'm so sorry that this has happened and that your precious little man couldn't stay. I have been thinking of you often and wondering how you're doing
The recognition of Reid fills my heart so much. Its all I really want out of this, is for Reid to be remembered.
One of my biggest fears was that because he was only 17 weeks (and because he's deemed a "miscarriage") people would think that he wasn't a person. But he so was. He was a perfect little person.
So thank you all so much for showing that respect to us. It really does mean the world to me.
When I can gain the energy, I've decided that I'm going to write a complaint to the hospital I saw on the Friday. I believe that if they had of investigated further, that the outcome might have been different.
I know that this isn't going to bring Reid back, but at the least, it can do something to change the way Women and Babies after us are treated.
Its disgusts me that no-one wants to deal with Women who's pregnancies aren't more than 20 weeks. Its not until these babies are born and they see how perfect they are that they realise that they should have done more. Its wrong on so many levels.
I'm so sorry your beautiful son Reid couldn't stay with you, and so very sorry you had to go through it alone. It is unforgiveable that if you are less than 20 weeks then you are not treated like any other mum.
I'm sure in time you will find a beautiful, perfect resting place for Reid.
Thank-You for sharing, I couldn't help but cry for you and your little boy, he deserved to stay here with you. Your little man will always be remembered through you and your family. He was and is always here.
Thank you for sharing your story of your journey with Reid, as brief as it was. I hope by sharing here, and seeing the support you receive (and deserve) that your resolve to complain to the hospital is strengthened. We will all be here to support you as you put forward that complaint letter. it really does sound like someone dropped the ball. there may have been no change to the outcome - no one will ever know because we can't go back in time - but being fobbed off due to gestation is just not on, and if your complaint helps just one other mum and bub to be shown the respect of being properly cared for, the outcome is well worth the effort
Thankyou for sharing the birth of your darling boy Reid. I must admit, I cried all the way through, especially where they told you there was no longer a heartbeat. It truly is the most awful thing to be told. I wish he could have stayed, and that his story ended differently.
I hope you find the energy to write your complaint.
Thank you for sharing your story about the loss of your son, Reid. I'm so sorry that he couldn't stay earthside with you & your family. I hope by writing his birth story that it helps with your grief.
Sara, thank you for sharing yours and Reid's story. I'm so sorry that he couldn't stay, and that you couldn't get the help you needed when you knew something was wrong. I hope you do find the energy to write that letter.
Oh Sara, you're such an inspiration. You knew something wasn't right and you stuck to your guns, you didn't just 'swallow' what you were told too by medical professionals, and I find that simply amazing and courageous. Your lovely little boy is very lucky to be loved and treasured by a mother, family and friends as giving and selfless as you.
I truly believe that his spirit is safe, and that his legacy will be lifelong and fulfilling to our world.
His gestation means nothing, numbers are numbers, he will be beautiful, innocent and pure for all of eternity. He is yours, always.
One day, soon hopefully, a pregnancy before 20 weeks will be regarded as more than something 'medical' and will be issued with the same amount of compassion and resolve as other passings in life.
