Maybe dentists are more risk adverse now? I had mine out in about 2006-2007 I think and my teeth were giving me heaps of trouble as they were very infected. But despite their bad condition and having to cut them out i still had it done in the chair with twilight juice.

I dislike the dentist, a lot. And still have my DH come with me most of the time!

But I had 2 wisdom teeth removed in the chair. It wasn't pleasant at the time, but I am glad I didn't have the money at the time for a GA. I don't respond well to them and the recovery would be worse for me than the 15 mins extracting in the chair.

It was noisy (from the inside) and I nearly crushed DH's hand, and had leg cramps from tensing so much due to the stress, but the stressing about it was much more taxing on me, then the actual procedure.
