Yellow Teeth - can you help?

The pregnancy of my first-born gave me the worst all day-everyday, morning sickness. It burnt sores in my throat, killed thousands of my taste buds and worst of all made my nice teeth, yellow. I tried using the whitening strips and all the diffferent tooth pastes from chemists but they did nothing. I went to the dentist and she gave me paste to build the enamel first, she offered a laser whitening treatment but its quite exy. Has anyone used anything that has actually worked? I’ve seen so many adds for products around the $150 and up, they have fancy lights and special gels etc. But do any of them work?
    Please help

My mum has tried the colgate once a week treatment and it's not done anything. She has coffee and smoking stained teeth. Sorry that's not much help I'd try to build your teeth back up first. One of my friends had really bad yellow teeth, she got the dentist to cover them and fill in all the cracks and holes she had cost a lot of money though that's the only thing I've seen work so far.

    Hi Celtic
Yep so far nothing over the counter has worked for me either. I have good quality teeth, no holes or gum problems they are just burnt yellow from stomach acid. I have religously built up the enamel over the past few years but that didnt make them whiter : (
Laser treatment would cost about $1500 and UP! Ouch

PS Celtic - wow we are due almost the same time. Are you feeling like your carrying a hippo too? he-he.

Anyway, There must be something on the market that works..
    Anyone?

I had whitening done before my weddin g as years of meds had yellowed them a bit. There is a cheaper way and it actually lasts longer than the laser whitening. My dentist made up moulds of my teeth and I then put a professional gel in them every night for a couple of weeks and slept with them in....they are very very thin moulds so sleeping is fine JIC you are picturing football style mouth guards. this procedure actually last longer than the other procedure because it is able to penetrate deeper. It cost me $150 for the mouth guards some of which was refundable on my private health and $100 for the gel. The bonus is I still have the mouth guards and can go back any time and get more gel over the counter if I want a freshen up. Laser or zoom whitening is really only effective for a few months at best so is a crazy expense for such a shortlived result

Melanie - i was at the dentist on Saturday and she suggested this treatment for me as well. She said it would cost $300 and that i could probably get some back as well. The one she suggested for me is called Pola. Is this what you had done? She also said that it won't make my teeth a brilliant white or anything, but that they will appear whiter when the light reflects off them.
the other option (which she said was for extreme cases - or superstars lol) is the porcelain veneers which cost about $600 per tooth.

im using gosmile, and have started as of tonight.... im meant to have significantly brighter teeth in 10 days i think.... i will let u know how i go... apparently it is the strongest whitening that you can do at home... it was $105 delivered to my door and you have these little individual viles to use each time that you rub in circular motion on your teeth for two minutes in total.... hopefully it will work.... i couldn't handle the trays in my mouth so went with this option.

I'd guess that your best option is the little trays and bleach........pola, or something like it (they all work pretty much the same). I have seen the laser whitening done, and agree that it is a very costly excerise for something that doesn't last that long. The trays are much more cost effective, and do a better job IMO.

Just so you know, I'm a dental nurse with 10 years experience
