Sara, Bracken Ridge is nice. Just a little note, the northside is pretty bad for childcare vacancies. I would be putting the horse before the cart and finding that in the area that you like before a house. If you are going to go to UQ, I would loook for a place closest to the hospital where you will be based at, as you will be there 3 days a week (RBWH, Ipswich or Mater). Look up Real Estate, Property, Land and Homes for Sale, lease and rent - realestate.com.au for their rentals.

If I can help anymore, feel free to put me on your MSN mum23girls@hotmail.com. I don't mind chatting

Thanks for that 3GO. I have added you to MSN. What is your first name?

Thanks for the link. I am almost an expert at realestate.com.au! Even have an account with all of my selections!

I have also called the Family Day Care associations down there and apparently already have a FDC mum lined up should I decide to move.

Thanks for the advice RE the hospitals.

So your studying through Uni of Qld hey??? As i posted before, I did my research and from what I found the UQ course was much more Midwifery focussed than the ACU Mid course. I guess you wouldn't really know the difference cause you are doing the dual course right?

    YOU CAN DO IT!
    YOU CAN DO IT!
    YOU CAN DO IT!
    YOU CAN DO IT!

I am pretty certain that If I don't get an offer into either of the Mid courses they will offer me nursing for a year. So if thats they case, I will be moving down there. As someone who has partly been through the uni process 3 times, I am happy to be your study buddy/motivater if you'll be mine!!!

    YOU CAN DO IT!
    YOU CAN DO IT!
    YOU CAN DO IT!
    YOU CAN DO IT!

Personally, I think with the right support you can do anything!

Sara just wanted to say i a huge congrats to you for getting in you must be so excited...I live in Melbourne and have been wanting to get into middy course ever since my dd was born 4 years ago of course as a mum things always get in your way and well to be honest I look at myself as being to stupid to get into uni..it was been 12 years since i left school and when i looked at a STAT online it just made me even more insecure about doing the course..I was hoping to do it thorugh correspondence through the uni of Adelaide rather then going to classes and trying to organise babysitters ect..

Anyway I just wanted to let you know that you have motivated me and although i did not want to do nursing I have now seen your point of doing it for a year and then transferring as being an option for me so thanks again i am off to look at this Adult tertiary prep stuff since i have awhile until i need to apply again..

CONGRATS enjoy the course you are now one step closer to having your dream career..well done..

Orientation weeks starts on the 16th of Feb so I have to be there for that.

Sem 1 starts the week after.

You can start applying as soon as the QTAC guide comes out which is in August I think.

Nah I didn't do that STAT exam Von.

I have done a traineeship and was lucky that it was enough.

As much as I would hate to do one I do think it would help towards your application. Either the STAT or the prep course through TAFE.

CONGRATULATIONS SARA!! That is so awesome!!

I called the local TAFE, all they can offer me is the Enrolled Nurse course - FT is 18mths. From what I know (as I had a friend who did the TAFE course and is straight away an enrolled nurse and went straight into 2nd year nursing). So now I'm thinking the dream will have to wait til the QTAC applications mid year for next years enrollment. I can't find a uni that takes mid year intakes. There is a course TAFE offers that increases my OP, but I didn't want to use my OP. My mum works in a nursing home who are looking for "personal carers", so I'm hoping to get that job,so I can be there for a few months before asking the nurses about how to enroll, or if they have a sponsorship dealy thing. Any other suggestions?
