My DH is teaching in this area at the moment. Every time I go to his office I am absolutely tempted to study the same.

So I'm no real help, just lurking

The first thing one of my lecturers said is that good journalism is nothing to do with writing. It's about an insatiable need to find out the facts. Most journalists are mediocre writers at best.
Very true. And in my experience, crappy spellers too

mmm i dont want to do creative writing (ie novels etc), but i like wording thiings, and presenting things through words - hence why i thought advertising might be an good use?
Have you looked at the courses in each comms stream to see what appeals? Maybe get a curriculum outline?

I did professional writing as a course, and part of that was classes in non-fiction writing, screen writing, and editing. Could be an option just to take those? It has certainly helped me in all aspects of writing, not just the fiction side of things.
