I'm not going to the Southern Cross uni info day as the travelling and daylight savings and trimesters won't work with my DD starting school . However I was really impressed with them as a Uni!
DOes anyone know how long the national police check takes to get processed?
Who's waiting anxiously for the 3rd of dec for the early round offers??????
Mamasupha, I didn't even think about daylight saving . Anyway, I'm going along to check it out. Griffith is still my first preference though.
How awesome would it be to get a early offer on the 3rd December. I don't think I'll get one either though, apparently it's only for certain exceptional applicants and I don't quite think I'm exceptional enough
hj, when do you think you'll give Bianca a sibling/ Will you wait til after your degree?
I wish we could find out how many people have applied to get into BMid or at least if they've already worked out the approx rank/OP cutoffs based on the current applications.
I am thinking the same thing re: having another baby. I'm in 2 minds of whether to try this month and if i get a BFP I'll defer uni if I get in or if I don't get preg this coming cycle I think I'll just start uni then try to time having a bub maybe over the xmas break next year or some time in the 2nd year so bub is due after clincials have finished for the year etc. I wonder if being heavily preg would impact on the clinicals as in if the uni would have restrictions once you reached 36 weeks.
All of my friends are getting UTD at the moment (about 6 of them) which is making me very clucky. But then again if I put off getting preg myself I know I've already got a few willing follow-throughs up my sleave for next year
Will anyone else be working part time as well as studying?
There will be a OP/ranking cut off for this intake. it's just because its a new course it isn't known yet. it just depends on how many applicants there were and what their rank/OP was, and that will determine what it will be.
Having heaps of friends preg or trying to get preg would make me clucky too so i don't blame you! what happens if we do fall preg and we are due in the middle of the year? how would that work?
I can't offer u advice on when to try and fall preg thats all ur choice but its hard isnt it to decide what to do! im so in 2 minds! ive said from the start that i will wait until end of degree (if i get in) but part of me now dosent want to wait that long!
I think its cause this is something i have wanted to do for awhile now that i dont want to put it off anylonger!
Who know what they would do inregards to clinicals and being preg - but the way i see it we would be pregnant and as long as there isnt any health risk than i can't see why we can't continue for aslong as we want!
hj don't lose hope because you never know!
Did you finish grade 12 and get a rank or an OP? Or have you done any type of certifcate studies since leaving school and include those details on your QTAC application? It can all help. If you're not sure what rank you might be you can ring QTAC and they should be able to tell you.
Just to add a little extra food for thought in the do I or don't I TTC next month, when I was driving home from work today I got a text message from my aunty saying that she dream't that I will have a baby boy on 9th August 2010. This aunty though does have a knack for dreaming about babies, she's been proven right on a few occasions. So if that were really to happen it prob means I'd fall preg next cycle and that the bub would be born 3 weeks early. Time will tell
Mara - i did finish grade 12 however did bad with my OP! And since than i have completed a few Certificates the highest being a CERT IV, and have just finished doing a TPP which i did really well in! I might ring QTAC just out of curiosity to see what my rank is - i think last time i rung them i was told i would be around 74 but that was before doing the TPP! So hopefully it has gone up!
Wow how exciting! i can't wait to see if ur Aunty's prediction comes right! how awesome would that be!
Would u still start Uni or would u defer for a year?
I know!!!! Trying to keep myself busy today. Going out tonight thankfully, but trying not to think about tommorrow too much (ha!). Will be disappointed if I dont get an early round offer, but not expecting one!
I haven't been able to find out what my ranking is now they've assessed my PCA.
Hi all
I have decided if I get into the BMid at ACU I will defer for a year. I would really love to start it straight away if I get offered a place, but I don't want to put Isabel into daycare and I don't have any other options for care. Even doing part time study I would still need to be on campus at least 2 days a week and I just can't bring myself to leave her in child care when she will be only 5 months old. So that sort of takes the excitement out of finding out if I gotten in! But fingers crossed still!
Re doing clinicals while pregnant - I am fairly sure that you are fine to do it up until 36 weeks and then I think it becomes an issue, mainly for WH&S. I know when I was doing nursing 36 weeks was like the cut off point.
mama_supha - u should be able to ring QTAC and they will be able to tell you what your ranking is! im with u on being dissapointed too! i know i wont get first round offer but yet i know i will still be disappointed! oh well!
mara - wooohoo we both got same ranking! LOL
Bon - i hear ya on the child care thing! exspecially at that age! Miss B will be almost 16mths and im still weary about puttin her in childcare!!!
So do we check the QTAC site application tomorrow - is that how we will find out?
They won't give me my current ranking since I've submitted my PCA, but they have given me my ranking for before my PCA , but there's a couple of ways they can give me a ranking so I'm not sure where I stand!
The offers start being uploaded at midnight tonight! Think I'll be buying a big block of chocolate to see me through!
mama_supha, I'm not a betting person but I'd put a bet on that you will get an early offer I think that Griffith will look very favourably at the fact that you've submitted a PCA etc.
I on the other hand have been a complete slacker and only applied based on my Grade 12 OP from way back in 1994
yeah hj, how co-incidental that we are both an 80.
Bon, thanks so much for the info re: pregnancy and clinicals. The 36 weeks makes sense from an OH&S perspective.
Even though you will defer it will still be pretty exciting! You will def get into ACU's BMid, especially having started your nursing. I did back in to 2008 offer round but had to turn it down because I live too far away so it wasn't doable
