Honestly? When I was at uni - I NEVER did 10 hrs per subject. Absolutely NEVER. I worked 50 hours a week and was "at uni" 10 contact hours a week. That was lectures. I didn't go to tutes!

Didn't make a difference to my marks - I'm a crammer, so my last 2 weeks before exams were plain study. Only to promptly forget everything in the subject as soon as I walked out of the exam.

For me, university was only a basic building block to my career - it's life experience and work experience that make me the professional I am today.

^^ Describes my uni experience to a T. I did my assignments last minute, crammed for exams in the 2-3 weeks (sometimes even 2-3 days!!) before hand. I passed ok, but uni really didn't advance me toward my career as such. I was lucky enough to gain a professional placement two weeks after I completed uni and I haven't looked back.

I discovered last weekend that I do retain a lot, was out with feeb & Pandora and able to spout info, from a subject I did before I took a break from my degree for a year or so.
My anatomy subjects are going to do my head in - remembering it all!!!!

No never. I work 40-50 hours a week easy, and honestly I love the degrees I am doing, so I find because I am engaged it's easy. I don't do half the reading and still have a great gpa. I think though it comes down to your own personal learning style.
