Hi Meagan,

We have so many similarities it is scary. I am also doing the meds course at the moment.....about half way thru and finding it really dry and boring. The maternity course I just did was actually an elective of the diploma as you mentioned. I only did it for my own personal interest but hopefully I will have got a job out of it too!!

I work at a public hospital that is acute medical, rehab, aged care and pshyc. I work on nurse pool so I go to all the wards across the campus and fill in for sick leave etc. I have been there for such a long time now it doesn't phase me at all. I decided to do the meds course this year because if you are looking for work now you need to have it.

In melbourne we apply for uni thru VTAC (vic tertiary admissions centre). You should have the same in your state. You can either buy the guide at the newsagent or go online and all the application details will be there for you. Some uni's have extra application requirements etc. Also ask the clinical edcucator at your work to help you.....they get excited about that sort of stuff. I hope you get in........it is such a special job and the people in it are so commited and passionate.

On a different note, I am so sorry about your loss and now understand what you meant about your angel babies. It must have been so hard for you and that experience alone will enable you to help so many people.

I have 4 kids, 3 girls 19, 17 and 14 and a son 15. They keep me busy and are great kids. It is nice as they get older. I really like the people they are becoming and love the time we spend together. My partner has 2 hildren 19 and 10 but we only have them every second weekend and school holidays, not so much the 19 year old as she is doing her own thing these days.

I best go and do my homework. I have a few assignments due and with working am finding it hard to get the work all done!!

Take care and talk soon.
