I start my Diploma of Nursing at TAFE in July, which I'm doing full time for 18 months, then will be able to go into a Bachelor of Midwifery and cut about 12 months off a 3 year degree by having already completed a nursing diploma. As a previous poster mentioned, alot of the initial modules are similar in nursing to midwifery for obvious reasons.
I'm like you, no desire to be a general nurse but a passion to become a midwife - I wasn't accepted into uni as I'd not done grade 12, so I'm taking the long way around. As they say though, if you want something you have to go out there and get it. HTH!
Oh a little note, I'm based in Brisbane and will be going to Southbank Institute of Technology then do my bachelor at Griffith.
