I got a letter in the mail today from UniSA and I got all excited!! So I opened it as I stood at the mail box. Unfortuntely it was just one of those generic letters to say 'thank you for your interest in our uni' and to tell me about the information sessions that are coming up.

ah well. 12 more days till offers. Its unfair they make us wait so long!

11 more days til I find out if I have an offer, 14 days til I return to work after 2 years of maternity leave. I don't know if I want to time to go quicker or slower!

Apparently in about 7 months I will be a qualified midwife - yikes!

Hi girls, I am hanging for the offers too, but I have had 2 births in the last 2 days, so have barely had a chance to eat and express, so haven't been thinking too mauch about it other than If I don't get into Mid, I am still in the right profession as a Doula!

I saw my first completely natural waterbirth this morning and am on such a high!

Oh how cool, Relle! Those are memories I'm sure will last you a lifetime!

I have to admit having flirted with the idea of doing an doula course when I was pg to Charlie, and even exchanged a few emails with Lisa Chalmers about it. But as much as I respect you ladies who do that fantastic job, I've now gone in a totally different direction, and I'm looking more and more at getting actively involved with infertility advocacy, and my pie-in-the-sky dream atm would be to gain a psych degree with the view of perhaps getting into infertility counselling.

It's funny how you know when you've found what you want to do. You sound completely in love with your work. We should all be so lucky!

Absolutely Sushee, when you do finally find "that thing" it just feels so right.

I am looking forward to a long career working with birthing women, whether that is as a Doula or a midwife.

I applied and got into the podiatry course at QUT. Quite happy, although I was gearing up for my third choice which was nursing.
Anyone else got their offers yet?

Relle, how exciting about the waterbirth! Thats so fantastic that you love being a doula.

Reganelizabeth, congrats on getting into your course! My uni does their offers on 15th of Jan. Argh, its taking so long! I just want to know now. I applied for nursing too.

Sushee, hope you get into your course. only a few more days till you get your offer, yay!

Thanks Karina! The wait is quite annoying, I know. Was nursing your first preference? Which uni are you going to?
Nursing definately appears to be popular with the mothers!

Reganelizabeth, I applied at UniSA, for external study. Nursing was my first pref but I also put midwifery as my second even though I have no chance of getting into it but I just wanted to put another preference anyway. I only really applied for external because I didnt have day care available to me. I have just gotten a spot day care though, so if I do get in to uni, I'll probably just do the first year externally then look at applying to another uni to study on campus. I'm in Sydney and there are a few unis here that have nursing.

so, three more days till I get to have another disappointment I think. I'm really not feeling confident at all.

Good luck sushee, let us know how you go!
Karina, A friend of mine studying externally through UniSA as well. I did some external study last year. You really have to have a lot of self discipline for it.
And if you don't get in this time, there is always midyear intake. I really wish you all the best though, my fingers are crossed for you!

psych is great sushee..I did it. Just be warned it is alot and I mean A LOT of maths during the first three years....... so much of it will be statistics and you have to really really focus on the end goal otherwise it can start to do your head in...happy to trade tips if you like at any time espesh going back as a mature age student I was 34 when I started.

mel, I'll be picking your brain for sure! Thanks for the offer. I am pretty good with numbers but obviously a bit rusty after all these years. I love statistics and spreadsheets and collation so hopefully I'll cope. But if not, I'll come crying on your shoulder!

I most definitely have my eye on the prize too, so am hoping that it keeps me motivated. I desperately want to get into infertility counselling eventually, if I'm not too old and grey by then!

I've been toying with the idea of doing education for primary(preferably kinder) I currently work in long day care but heading into my 12th year I'm thinking of a change, education would be good the money(childcarers wages are not so great) and the holidays would be good for DD especially when she gets to school age. I just don't know if it would be to close to what I am doing now?
