My ds2 has never had normal poo's. Like ever. As a newborn, he had constant diarrhea, he would poo constantly and he had severe nappy rash. We had tests done which found out he had undigested food in his poo. But being a small country doctor they couldn't tell me anything more and so we waited weeks to see a paed who fobbed us off completely and told me breastfed babies don't get allergies or intolerances and because he was putting on weight that it didn't matter. But I have always known something isn't right. As he's grown his poo alternates between constipation and this god awful sweet smelling mushy poos which really smell strongly like mouldy fruit. It is so sweet smelling. His weight over the last year has dropped from being on the 60 percentile to just below the 3rd percentile. We recently saw a paed for a heart murmur he has and they said he is on the small side but he's still on the chart so again it doesn't matter. His poos aren't normal, he's never slept a night in his life. I know its just not right. But I can't get anyone to listen to me. We live 600km from the nearest big city, getting a second opinion is not an easy task. We know that he reacts badly to fruit juice, its the one intolerance which makes me think its a fructose intolerance. But even cutting out fruit and fruit juice we are still having issues with him. If he takes even a sip of his sister's formula bottle (she has one bottle a day) Within about a minute he has done a yucky mushy poo. I can't see any fructose on the ingredient list which makes me wonder about lactose. But he seems to drink milk ok, although he has a problem with yoghurt. I am just so confused about where to start, what to eliminate. He is a horribly fussy eater so I don't want to eliminate too many things at once otherwise he might not be eating anything. But I need to get him sorted. We are going to be starting toilet training soon and the thought of doing that whilst his poos are the way they are... well lets say I would prefer for him to stay in nappies forever.

I'm also feeling a little desperate because in the last couple of months dd's poos have been getting more and more gross and have a distinct very strong sweet smell to them as well. She is heading down the same path as her brother
