my dd TheStar, goes to a kindy where they aren't allowed anything with eggs or nuts.
Nuts means that pretty much anyt snacky items bought from the shops are out such as health bars, and ALL arnotts. (!)
Plus nothing considered "unhealthy" with sugar, (biscuits etc) or unhealthy with salt (eg, chip type stuff)
This is all mildly inconvenient, but the no eggs throws me right out - i cna't even make muffins for her!
HELP! Does anyone have any ideas what I can make for her to eat?
Currently sending banana (only fruit she'll eat at the mo), pieces of ham, honey sandwich, and cheese slices. Trying to add some diversity for her, plus we don't always have these items at home.
ANY IDEAS? ANYONE? Especially stuff I can make/pack the night before.

The other thing I have been making which they have "approved" of is:
English FlapJack
Ingredients:
75g of butter
50g light brown sugar
1 tablespoon of golden syrup
175g of rolled oats
Method:
1. Place the butter, sugar and golden syrup into a saucepan and stir over low heat until the butter and sugar & golden syrup are totally meled and combined.
2. Add the oats and mix thoroughly.
3. Press into a well greased slice tin. Press down all over with the back of a spoon to flatten it.
4. Bake in a preheated oven (about 180`c) for 20minutes or until golden brown.
5. Mark into fingers whilst warm using a knife.
6. Allow to cool before removing them from the tin.
These keep really well.
We have to send the recipes into kindy so that they are reassured that nothing contains nuts and eggs, and both the above passed approval!
some snack ideas
*plain rice crackers - if they like dip- some dip as well
*fruit straps but the ones with real fruit, not the fruit and sugar ones- annie's make a great fruit and a vege bar- or true fruit make them as well (from supermarket)
*Rice or corn cakes with a spread
*yoghurt (make sure its store in a cool container)
*salad sticks - celery, cucumber, carrot
*Rice wheels - it the natura section - they are great and additive free they are individual packets of puffed wheat wheels
*dried mango, or any other dried fruit such as apple or pineapple, even sultanas
*cheese slices or cheese cubes
*tinned fruit or fruit that is in those squash and mashed states- almost like a drink

Okay mate I've been looking for no egg recipes for a little while now for our other friends with egg issues.... will be back with some that I've tried.
You can buy egg substitute from the health food shop. Its called No Egg. For one egg you use 1 tsp and mix it with 2 tbls of water. You then add it the recipe as you would if adding normal egg. It tastes fine with muffins etc. My DD has an egg allergy so we use this often!
Fat-Free, Egg-Free Apple Banana Muffins
Ingredients:
* 2 cups flour
* 4 tsp baking powder
* 1/2 tsp cinnamon
* 1/2 cup sugar
* 1 1/2 cups apple juice
* 1 apple, diced
* 2 ripe bananas, mashed
Preparation:
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees and lightly grease a muffin pan.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, cinnamon and sugar. Add the apple juice, apple and mashed banana and mix well.
Pour the batter into the muffin pan, filling each cup about 2/3 full.
Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until muffins raise and are golden brown.
Our childcare has the same policy. DS gets a bannana, yoghurt, cream cheese sandwich and either leftovers or vegies. You could make corn & cheese muffins from the Toddler Food thread:
I was inspired by this thead to make these today!You put a tin of creamed corn in a bowl, then fill the tin up with SR flour, then fill it up with grated cheese, mix then bake in muffin tins.
google vegan recipes you will find heaps or recipes that are egg free
christy do you have any more recipes to add to this thread!! we have the same issues at kinder too and i really want to make sophie stuff to take!
i definatley recomend no egg (egg replacer)
we make cakes muffins piklets all the same as others its just egg free.
but fruits and veg with dips.
sandwiches
cold home made sausage rolls
cheese and crakers
double check that you can have things that have a warning on them that they may contain traces or not,because you (or the kindy) CAN NOT ensure a complete nut free centre.
