Where did you buy your DSLR from?

I was going to just go with a Canon 1000D to start out with but now I am thinking maybe I should stretch the budget a bit further and get the 550D. I wish I could make up my mind *sigh*

Don't know if it is helpful to you at all but I saw the Canon 1000D with twin lens kit in the **** Smith catalogue for $693. No idea if that is a good price for it or not because I use Nikon but thought I would let you know
