Katherine was diagnosed with sensory-neural hearing loss to the right ear at 4 years of age. This means nerve damage. We were told that she had basically a dead ear as she had no hearing on any frequency. The cause is unknown...a total mystery. Oddly, her left ear has perfect hearing making her kind of hearing loss very unusual.

It is amazing how she has adapted to it. She lip reads well and she constantly amazes me by how she copes. Children are amazing.
