NT scan at 12 weeks please look at my picture

First I want to say that I had an us today just to check the hb, they did not check anything else. I am the one that noticed excess fluid at the back of the neck. I am stressing out now and will call tomorrow morning.

If the baby isn't in the right position any picture isn't going to give you the right information. To get accurate measurements they have to be in the right position for the sound waves that the us uses to be accurate. I deal with u/s and measurements for hearts and their valves etc on animals weekly, its part of my job and I know that you have to have everything in the right place to be able to get accurate measurements.

If you are concerned, speak with your hospital or your GP. The measurements need to be done between 11.5-13 weeks.

Also bear in mind that to be accurate an NT ultrasound has to be combined with blood tests. I don't think this is something you can judge unless you are an expert. If you're worried ask your doc, but don't stress about it.

The pic from you NT scan isn't the best for NT measurement... I can see it isn't quite midline. However, from what I can see... looks totally normal!

I can't see much, are you looking at that big bit under baby?? Looked like that on my scan and I was thinking OMG!!!! But then she didn't even measure that bit, turns out it was the umbilical cord baby was lying on and she measured the correct bit which I can't see on this pic.

Hon, try not to stress too much. I couldn't tell you whether the amount of fluid were normal or not because I'm not qualified to comment. What you chould remember is that the amount of fluid and blood test results will only provide an indication of the level of risk of your child having any abnormalities (for instance Downs Syndrome). Plenty of women who have been told they're child presents with a high risk go on to have perfectly healthy normal babies.

To determine the thickness of the fluid in an NT scan they take multiple pictures, each reading ends up being different and they get the average from that. One scan pic isn't going to tell you anything, if you want to know your Trisomy risk I'd go get a proper NT scan done.

    Cheers,
