Cheryl! Good to see you in here!

Nicky - Go the gnocchi - if you are ready then she is ready!! She sounds like she has it sorted, she's just waiting for her Mum to catch up!!

Cheryl - Just keep offering lots of different types of food! You never know, you might end up with the opposite problem to most Mums who have a baby that eats everything that turns into a toddler that lives on air!! Spaghetti sounds like a good start. Do you put mince in it? Also Jett loves Carbonara and maybe that would be worth a try too? It will certainly put weight on her if she does!!

Alimoy - I remember thinking the same thing about the BM poos when Jett started solids. But I think after a month or so his poos became a good solid so they just roll of the nappy, so I prefer that to the BM poos that soak in to the nappies!

Mummytummy, good too see you in here too. We definately put mince in, but my little cheeky one pulls the mince out of her mouth then throws it on the floor. She will eventually start eating it, so I am not too worried and she does like different foods, she just fills up quite quickly. Just waiting for her to bulk up and start eating better. That too will take some time.

I made berry pancakes for breakfast last weekend, and gave DS one - he loved it! At the whole thing and was going "mmmmm" the whole time, lol. When he finds something he loves to eat, he doesn't leave a crumb!
Mmm, what else have we tried? Meatloaf was a hit, as was zucchini quiche - and were both really easy for him to pick up and feed himseld. Oh, and we gave DS some chocolate custard, and he didn't like it! Mmm, surely my child couldn't not like anything chocolate!!!

I've found pasta to be a really good food for DS - it's easy for him to pick up and eat, and I can usually make a vegie/meat sauce to go through it so he has a bit of everything.

Hope everyone's bubs are going well

This morning for breakfast I gave DS a vita brit crumbled up and mixed with greek style yogurt - I think you suggested it a while ago MummyTummy?

Anyway, DS ate a few bits, but was really just playing with it, until... I cut up a mango, and squeezed the stone over his bowl so all the juice mixed in with it. It made it runnier and messier, but OMG - DS ate every last little bit of his breakfast after that! It must have just needed that sweetness added .

Hi everyone - hope everyones babies are doing well with their solids!
What are thoughts on spicy food? Curry is my FAVOURITE thing in the world, haven't really offered DS anything spicy yet, but i'm making a chicken and aubergine curry for dinner tonight- do you think he'd be okay to try a bit? I won't make it too spicy, but my theory is that babies starting solids in India etc are probably okay eating spicy food right?!
I'm not going to use peanut oil, dunno if that's being paranoid coz it'd just be a tiny bit - but there's seems to be a bit of peanut-phobia in the world at the moment....

AliMoy - I have no idea, I've been wondering the same actually. I guess you could just offer a tiny bit that was very mild - then just see how he goes. I guess you'd have to watch out for if it upset their little tummies.
    Sorry I'm not more help.

I've been wondering about leftovers recently. I've been hesitant to give any to DS - but it would actually be really good if I could give him leftovers, especially for lunch the next day or something. Is it just a matter of making sure you store everything correctly?

Thanks Sterla - i'll let you know how we go! we may just get an interesting nappy the next day

i would imagine that leftovers are fine, like you said, as long as everything's been stored safely i can't see any reason why not.

banana seems to be a favourite with Edward at the moment - i've worked out it;s much easier for him to eat if i just give him the whole thing as opposed to small, slippery pieces - he looks so cute munching on a big banana!

what type of reactions are ppl getting from others re baby led solids? We've had really good experiences so far, mainly it's been other mums saying "oh i never thought of giving my baby that" and then trying different things to discover their baby loves 'not-mushed-up-food' too... my mum has a bit of trouble getting her head around the idea that she doesn't have to spoon feed DS, it's funny he's really reluctant to take food offered to him on a spoon - mr independent doesn't see why he can't just do it himself with his hands!
