hmmmm we had mashed potato/pumpkin with dinner..so stuck some on the bumbo tray and jack smooshed it everywhere...face feet hair...he did eat the majority of it though!!! i took piccies but will have to up load them later....
I found baked potato chips easier for them at that age than mash. Cut your potato into sticks and drizzle with some oil and put them in the oven at about 190C... They can hold them, they are still soft enough to eat and they are easy for them to eat - and no cleaning up crusty mash of the floor! lol
With potato I have been cutting an edge off and microwaving it. It keeps its shape that way too.
Emily had broccoli, baby corn, and tomato... same old. She also had a prune tonight! She has been getting a little blocked so i thought a prune might help, she certainly enjoyed it even if it doesn't move things along!
Have you ladies noticed food in bubs mouths well after you gave it to them? I keep finding bits stuck to the roof of DDs mouth. I get worried that she may choke on these bits when she is lying down.
Has anyone tried fish fingers? They might be a good one.
Are you giving her water or milk or anything with her meals? I found that if charlotte has enough to drink while eating she doesnt get bits stuck in her mouth.
Fish fingers - yes, she loved them ... Then next time not so much lol I just get snapper fillets now, or whiting, and she will eat that quite happily - and it is better than processed fish fingers. Making your own fish fingers is really easy too.
well, i havent been on here for a while and i read back abit but i have heaps to do so cant really catch up.
DD is doing really well although we have a bit of a limited selection of items i give her, not because she doesnt like other stuff i just really havent had alot of time to mike other stuff!!
She eats pasta every day...loves the stuff and i guess it fills her up...tried a few different shapes, macaroni, small shells, teddy shapes but the shells are her fave, she can pick them up easier!! peas and corn. Made some humous and she had that on toast, the usual suspects on toast or cruskits, not a fan of toast, she gags on it EVERY time!! strawberry jam (DH loves giving her that one) loves tuna. chicken. we were having lunch today and i had a chicken sandwich, i managed to give her a good lunch out of my sandwich! bread, chicken, tomatoe...i love that i can just feed her with whatever im having! SO easy! kiwi, grapes...not whole!
I stopped giving her yoghurt...its just SO messy, havent had the time.
made sweet potatoe chips the other week...went down well...she is chewing really well now!
anyway....sounds like every ones bubs are doing well!!
Liam had rockmelon fingers last night and had heaps of fun playing with it! Don't think he ate much, but that's ok!
Tonight we tried an avocado sandwich. Just had one piece of wholemeal bread which I tried to spread some quite firm avocado on (didn't smear very well) and just folded it over and cut it in half. He had a ball ripping it up and I'd say he ate about a 1/4 of it. not bad!
We had pasta and meatballs for tea, so when he was getting bored of his bread, I gave him some of my 'elbow' pastas... which interested him for a little bit. They had a little bit of tomato pasta sauce on them so he tasted them, but I don't think he ate any.
I agree Beckoes - I love that we can just feed them what we're eating! It helps keep us eating healthy too, hey?
I used avocado as the only spread on toast for DD before 12 mths. Even if vegemite is 'okay' from an allergy POV it has heaps of sodium in it and is not recommended for small children or babies. Hommus is another one that has been suggested.
oh my.... i have NO idea what hommus is! i swear this baby is going to introduce me to so many new foods.
I have stopped her rice cereal. She wasnt that into it anyway, just wanted to play with it. So gonna wait a couple weeks and try again. SHe will be nearly 6 months by the time we try again, i guess.
But she has turned into a guts all of a sudden. Gone from downing 140-150 mls of formula and now she can take up to 230! grow spurt mayb?
You're probably right, Hollye, it could be a growth spurt. At her age the increased milk you are offering should be enough to keep up with her needs. At 4-5 mths I think they go through a developmental stage as well, sounds like she is grasping, holding things, etc.
