    Baby girl names - help!

    Hi,

We have 2 boys. All our names are quite unusual and are european so I need a matching/similar name for DD1 which is due April 2013. We like names that aren't too common.

We have liked Sybella (pronounced Sibella) for a while but am finding not too many people like it. What do you all think? Honestly?

I also like the following names:

    Stella; Estelle/Estella; tiana or tatiana;

I'm really stuck for names and would appreciate any comments or suggestions.

I like Sybella, and Stella, not a fan of estelle/a or tatiana. Tiana is ok.

What about Siobhan or Savannah, Sienna?

Thanks BrightSparkles and Aries. Do you honestly like it?

With Siobhan - the pronounciation and spelling are too strange for me. I like the name when said but spelling is just too unlike the pronounciation.

The family already has a Sienna and it is pretty common.

Sybella can also be spelt Sibella. ??

Do you think Stella would suit a girl who is older as well as when young, is it too cutesie?

I think Sybella is beautiful. if you love it, who gives a rats what anyone else thinks?

I also love love love Estelle and Stella. DD2 would have been a Stella if our surname didn't have an 'ell' sound in it already.

    Thanks Kim.

I guess I just want the name to be well received (childcare, activities etc). I hadn't got many positive comments so far so was getting a bit worried (and that's just from strangers). What did you end up naming your little girl (if you don't mind me asking)?

I really loved it as soon as I heard it on a tv show and DH loved it then too but that was in 2009 and i'm just second guessing it now.

Sybella is a little unusual so that is probably why people say they don't like it. I think it is one that grows on you. I've heard it a few times over the years and didn't like it at first but I do now. DTMS? My bosses daughter has a really unusual name (they made it up) and my first thought was "eww why?" but now I really like it. It is really pretty.

I also like Estella & Stella from your suggestions. I think both would grow well from little girl to adult.

We have jorja and Sheriden. To begin with people weren't keen on Sheriden but we loved it so that's her name. We like Stella to and I think it suits older and younger.

I say go with what you love. After all you'll be saying it everyday

No need to apologise - we all have different tastes and I really want honest opinions anyway.

    Thanks for your honesty!

Thanks everyone - I thought I was going crazy for a while there. Thanks for your honesty - it's reassuring!

The only names I find myself considering over and over in books and on the net are the ones I listed. Leaning towards Sybella but will probably have Stella as a back up.

How about spelling - Sybella, Sibella?

Kim - Holly is very cute!

A lady I know said she and her Hubby combined the first syllable of her name and his and that is how they came up with their son's name.

Any chance that would work for you?

I thought it was a unique way of coming up with an interesting name - providing its the right combo
