I wouldn't have a problem using that name. If you saw them often then I wouldn't but if they are in another state and you rarely see them (and rarely communicate) then I don't see why not. I told DH that the Mummy gets the final say with Bub's name anyway

Men are funny like that with names, aren't they? My dh was the same with the name I liked, he had a mate who's little boy had that name.

Good luck trying to change his mind hun.

Try working with children for 10+ years! Not alot of names left on the list for one reason or another.

Thanks Ausgirl. I agree. Until recently, I worked in childcare, it was good b/c you came across some usual and not so usual names, but also very confusing b/c there are so many!

    I say do it.

Won't be the only person you see with that name, so what's the difference?

At the end of the day, its you and hubby who have to live with this name for the rest of your lives. We had the same problem (discarded names for various reasons) but eventually we just settled on the name we liked and bugga everyone else

Go for it! I have two cousins that have little boys with the same name born very close together. One was always going to have it, the other picked it without knowing and just loved it. We all don't see each other often so it's not strange - if anything the family will talk about them in the terms of Beth's Cooper or Soph's Cooper if anyone is confused. It's also helpful for our elderly gramdma who has a terrible time remembering our names at the best of times

My sister has a daughter called Maddison and I see her everyday but I also have the name Addison on my list if we ever have another. I just love the name and my sister is fine with it.

My husband and I have lots of girls names in mind and there is one in particular that I really love. A couple of weeks ago I found out my cousin who I haven't seen in 20 years just had a little girl and has given her that name. I still have this name on my list as I love it so much and we never see my cousin anyway. I recon go for it!

Names are names and if you really like it stand your ground. Point out to DH that it's unlikely his cousin will make a scene over it. And if he/she does then it's there problem to get over.
