DH and I can't agree. Please help.

DH and I cant agree on a girls name for our baby due on the 5th August.

    DD1 is Tahlia Ann

My favourite names this time are Sienna Ann and Rylee Ann but DH like Kira Ann. Our Surname starts with H is 3 syllables and ends with an N.

I think that Kira ir a bit too popular atm but have not heard of many Siennas, yet.

We have agreed on a boys name if bubs is a boy, but we are not in agreeance on the girls name.

A couple of other names I liked are:

    Maya / Mya / Myah
    Shaylee
    Shelby
    Rylee
    Amari
    Jaeda

DH does not like any of these. He says he only likes Kira.

Would love your opinions and suggestions.

    Thank you

I'd pick Kira over Sienna if you were against Kira for popularity. I know of much more Sienna's...
I also think Kira is nicer and I think 'Kira Mae' is beautiful.

I know quite a few Sienna's and only one Kira (spelt Keira). I love both the names. I would chose Kira. Sounds like you have the last same name as me!

I've also heard of many more Sienna's than Kira's.

Kira is a nice name for a child... but I wonder how it would suit a mature woman?

    How about Sierra?
Sort of a mix of Kira & Sienna, but a cute name in its own right

    Very nice.

Bathsheba while you raise a valid point, your name is only what you make of it. If you would judge a woman with the name Kira as young and immature then that is certainly your loss.

I think Sienna is probably more popular than Kira too.

I like all your names but I think Rylee is my favourite .

I agree with a previous poster that Sienna is a very popular name... The amount of friends/people we know that have called their daughter Sienna in the last few years. We were actually considering Sienna for DD, but it was just so popular and we wanted something not so popular - which is hard! I haven't really heard of Kira... is it pronounced the same as Keira? I do like Sienna more out of both... but maybe there is another name you can both agree on? I do like your list!

Sienna is waaaaay more common than Kira, based on my work's 350+ place waiting list, as well as the various childcare centres I have worked in over the last 9 years.

Would you think about Sierra? I like Amari, but if DH isn't into it, then no dice.

CM: Given that the OP wasn't keen on the name Kira I thought I could provide an "out" I wasn't passing judgement on the name and certainly didn't say that I would judge a woman with the name Kira as "young and immature" I meant "older" woman when i said "mature". I left it up to her to decide by using the shrugging emoticon. Sorry if you found my comment judgemental... was just my own humble opinion on the name. People given unfavourable opinions on names all the time here in these threads. The names that I have chosen for my own children (mainly my DD) have been commented on as being old fashioned as the kind of name an old lady might have, not a baby But I took that as just that person's opinion and wasn't offended. You are right, you make what you do from a name. The most unlikely names can end up really suiting a person. For example I read the neame "Rebel" on a class list once when I was a teachers' assistant and thought... "hmmm" but after a few days I discovered the name really worked and actually had a nice ring to it.... likewise the name "Sixteen" (for a little girl)... once again I thought "odd" but once I got to know her it just seemed natural to call her that name. So I guess we agree on that point... perhaps not whether members should ever express a negative opinion on a name though hey?

I know it's probably not even relevant - but last night as I lay in bed, I thought of this thread. I thought of the names Sarenna or Sarienna? I'm not sure about the spelling, they were just what popped into my head at the time and the way i've spelt it is how the pronounciation is rolling off my tongue. Like I said, I'm not even sure how relevant those names are to Sienna and Kira. lol. Best of luck!

Thank you for all of your replies. Unfortunately I think the scrore is about 50/50

I still like Sienna best. And DH likes Kira best.

Im having an ultra sound in a couple weeks, maybe I should just give in and find out the sex so I know for sure if I even need to be concerned about a girls name.

Why does it have to be so hard?

I've been readin all of these to DH so fingers crossed he might come round and give in to me
