DH and I call him Cae (as in 'K'). I call him Cae Jae ('K-J'), because his full name is C aelan J ames. My kids often call him Cae-Cae ('K-K'). My mum is appalled we call him Cae because it sounds like Kaye, as in the female name which I think is ridiculous. When I tell people his name, they often say Caleb or Callum/Callan. And people have difficulty spelling it too. But, it doesn't bother me really. I knew naming him it would probably be a bit of an issue because it isn't a common name. But my DD is L ily and people can't spell that either. I get every variation under the sun, usually excepting the most basic way to spell it, which we chose because it is the way lily is spelt (as in the flower) and figured it would be the most obvious and popular way to spell it, but it seems that's not so!

Kristi thanks, Luca was another name we brought up, dh liked Lucas and i prefered Luca.
3LM- i wondered if anyone would think the nickname K was feminine, but so many names are unisex these days i dont think it matters. originally if ds1 or ds2 were a girl they would have been Tylah which Tyler is prodominatly a boys name.
Kaelan is definatley growing on us
Im still trying to push Nate too but dont think im getting anywhere with it

    Hey Nickers,

I don't love Koda or Ryker but I like all the others! Nate is on our list too, but we're the opposite my DH really likes it but I'm not in love. Our other names so far are Zane, Isaac and Hunter. When we had Ds we both really liked the name Chance.

Some other boys names from friends babies are Teague, Preston, Denver, Reagan.

I'm finding it really hard this time too! Good luck

does anyone think Mason may be too common?? I checked it out and last year was number 35 i think.
considering both ds1 and ds2 arnt in any lists its just bothering me a bit that it may be still on its way up the list and become a top 10 name?? on an american site it already is i think.in saying that, we dont actually know anyone with a Mason, Ive heard the name but dont know anyone with the name and havent seen the name at the boys preschool/school.
(no offense to anyone with names in the top lists, i just prefer less common names)

    Loving Taj Nicholas!

How about Cody instead of Koda, to me I starting thinking of cola when I hear Koda. I don't know how common it is though?

Are you set for Thomas as a middle name?

i have a gf with a DD called Cody so wouldnt use that name.
pretty sure middle name will be Thomas as it is FIL name. The other middle name i wanted to use was William which is my grandfathers name but dh is sticking with Thomas cause both ds1 and ds2 middle names are from my side of the family.

Nik out of all your names I LOVE Taj!!

When we were deciding DH also liked Nate and Gabe. Other names I loved were Talon, Finn and Noah.

I also love Krew and Jai but they were taken by friends/family.

Good luck with your decision, I'm sure what ever you decide it will suit him perfectly!! xoxo
